Sorry if this has been covered already, but am I wrong in having the
impression that there's f*** all for Mac OSX relating to BCs? I couldn't see
one single mention about Mac on the Behringer downloads page.

Any ideas, please?

Thanks a lot in advance

It appears that this is the case, but there are a few things you can do.
The BC patches on Behringer's site are in MIDI sysex format so your
sequencer should be able to send them to the BC. There are probably
utilities like the PC's MidiOx out there.
Behringer's Editor is written in Java and there is a version of Java
for Mac OSX.

My editor won't run native on a Mac.Sorry.
Can you use a PC emulator on your Mac?
I haven't ported anything to Mac for years and nothing under OSX.

Thanks so much for your assistance Royce. I\u2019m actually on a Hackintosh. So I can flip back and forth. I was just really surprised there is no support for Mac OSX at all!

Thanks again for your feedback

Cheers

For those running the Mac OS you can look into using WINE to run
windows apps or VMware's Fusion, which will let you run an instance of
Windows in a virtual machine.

hola,

I've managed fine on the Mac so far, without resorting to Windows
emulation.
I use BCR Tool, very similar to BC Convert, written in Python:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/bcrtool/

and Sysex Librarian instead of MIDI Ox:
http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/

Both work very well.

If you want to run Java MIDI apps, such as the Behringer editor,
you'll probably need a MIDI SPI such as the Plumstone one:
http://www.mandolane.co.uk/dlPlumstone.html
Otherwise the Behringer won't show up as an available MIDI device.

If you want to check out some other BCR software that runs on OS X
(written in Java), see my pages here:
http://mars.pingdynasty.com/software.oml
- there's a beat slicer, step sequencer etc.

cheers,

/m

I've actually used BC Convert and have writing a cross-platform UI on
my list of things to do.
(the problem when you have gear is, you dont want to write code. And
when you write code, you dont have time to play with the gear you are
writing
code for) :-)

I'm new to this group and didn't know about the other tools until
recently, and as yet, I haven't used the other tools for the BCR, but
I have a feeling (just from the messages posted) that those tools may
be further along than BC convert.

However, there's another forum where I belong to that has many users
who uses the BCR 2000. This is my primary drive for writing a UI for
it.

10.4.11 on a PPC PowerBook.
If you're on an Intel Mac and/or running Leopard I'd like to hear how
you get on with Java MIDI apps, if you try any out. Particularly, if
you can access external MIDI devices... The free plumstone SPI works
fine on PPC, but supposedly doesn't work on Intel machines.
