PrintfixPro green Prints R1900 David Tobie

PrintfixPro green Prints R1900 David Tobie

Hello David,

I really do not know anymore whats wrong, or what i make wrong
profiling my Epson Glossy Photo Paper with Printfix Pro and
SpyderPrint3.5b9.
Its my X-try printing targets and profiling. First i not noticed,
because i printed only color and perhalps i have not the good light to
judge the prints, so i have to wait for daylight to see actual results.

Now that i need to print some black and white pictures the prints have
a green cast.

I try to eliminate sources of errors one by one, but ...

 - in the beginning i profiled the 225 Patch with extended grays - but
i switched to the normal 225 Color target, to eliminate another cause
of errors ... it should give me a "o.k." black & white print, or?

- I printed the targets both ways, from SpyderPrint, with ICM no
Colormanagement in the Epson Driver ... Another try was to print the
Targets directly from Photoshop With no Colormanagment from CS3 and
ICM NO-Colormanagement in the Printer Driver.

- I use the same Paper settings and Print settings for my Prints as i
printed the Targets (ok now with the my Colorprofile)

- I calibrated the Spectrometer on the white target in the base as
instructed

- I check the nozzle print

- I let the Target Prints dry

- when measuring the targets i put blank papers under the the measure
print to avoid measuring my table :)

- I exam the measured Targets and compare them to the Pure targets,
the measured are darker, but i see no errors, maybe i miss something,
but for judgment they look o.k..

- I choose the easy profiling in the Spyderprint program to eliminate
User Errors

- i search the forums ..... i read a lot of advices from you here and
on Dpreview and watched the videos on the website. There was a similar
Post with a Canon red results and a bad Target Print - i followed your
advice to check the Targets but maybe i miss something!

I am lost somewhere .................

I think i need help ! Its getting really frustrating! I would love to
send you the measured file.

Thanks in advance,
Goesta

Hi,

I went through a similar experience with a slight magenta cast on B&W
with Epson R1800; the earlier version of the R1900. The problem is
the R1800 has only one black ink and no gray ink so the grays must be
produced by a combination of the colors. A very difficult task. See
my thread starting with message 3112 for how I iterated the profile
process to get pretty close. You will have to use the advanced
profile process.

I'm sure CD will chime in shortly.

It sounds like you're doing everything right, so: let me see your
measurements, and we can take it from there via email!

Use the File:Open Data command in Spyder3Print to open the folder that
contains the measurement files; they're all small text files with .xml
extensions.

Attach your measurement file(s) to an email to me at davem@...
and I'll look at them later today.

Hello Bob,

Thanks for the fast reply.
I must to admit that i followed one of your posts on Dpreview already
and tried your technique (on a desperate evening ;-) ..mainly because
i wanted to remeasure my print to see if i can find out what happen in
the print)

,but i failed with all the Lab color space, RGB values and specially
the adjustment sliders (magenta, greens, blues yellows.......).

I hope that i just do something wrong in the profiling process.

Printed two B&W pictures with original Ink Paper combination and they
look o.k. I am not expert to judge and they are sure nothing Gallery
quality. But they look Black and white.
Now with the new Ink Paper Combination and profiling i print in Black
& Green.

Sended my measurement file to David Miller.

Thank you very much for your reply!!
