Larger Patch size will be more ergonomic and make patch measurement more fun.

Larger Patch size will be more ergonomic and make patch measurement more fun.

Hi.
I know i've asked this before and so has probably others but i believe
it's still justified. I want a larger patch size option for ease of
measurement. It would be best if the current size (it can't get any
smaller than current setup) is the minimum and then there would be a
medium and then large or even super size patch.

I know one can minimize the margins and on the epson TX100 drivers i
could also enlarge the test print (but it does get off centred and
luckily all the patches were still on the paper). Sometimes minimizing
the margins still produce a pretty tight patch for reading.

Most of the effort in measuring the patches goes to aligning and
centering the reader over the patches. And its' very tight currently so
it does slow down the whole process when i have to be sure i don't make
a mistake by including another small piece of the next patch. I know
some of you can crank out a reading over mere minutes but i do get a
bit cross-eyed and need to take a few breaks or else i'll make a
mistake.

There is still a lot of white spaces all round the patches and we can
also forgo the notes area below for the patches to grow.

Can we have it the next version - hopefully very very soon? - Please.

Thank-you.

Ed.

If your peinter will only print letter/A4 size, there are quartered
225 patch target files in the Targets folder. Print those on letter or
A4 from Photoshop, using the "size to fit" option in the driver, and
assemble after printing into a 16 x 20 sheet. That should be quite
easy to read. If your printer will print larger sheets, then all the
targets will print with larger patches on any larger sheet size,
direct from the application.

Hi Mr Tobie,

I'm trying to avoid printing it through photoshop at this stage as
i'm afraid i'll add in some other variances that could affect the
measurements. I'll rather print it from the Spyderprint/printfix pro
application - when i do that i know i have produced the correct patch
printouts. In photoshop - There'll be too many settings in the
photoshop print dialog for to screw-up.

Thank-you.

I'm away from home so I can't try this myself, but how does the
software react if you edit the target image file?

I've edited mine quite a bit -- moving the row and column labels much
closer to the swatches and cropping the white margins off to make more
room for the color swatches -- but then I've printed the target
through QImage, so I don't know if you could just print the edited
copy through Spider Print or not.

No, you can't print the edited copy through Spyder3Print; the target printed by the application in an internal vector file, not the rasterized target from the Targets folder. Adjusted, edited, and customized target files are encouraged as needed, but must be printed through other means, with color management turned off in whatever workflow is used.
