Need Troubleshooting

I have a Yamaha Disklavier DGP1XG baby grand and it has been working just fine. However, this evening when I placed a floppy into the drive, I could see the disk being read and the volume indicator rising and falling----but there was no actual sound as the keys and pedals were not responding at all. Naturally, I climbed under the piano to see if something had come lose, but everything appeared to be normal. Does anyone in the group have a hunch as to what went wrong so suddenly? There has been no indication of any impending malfunction, and for the keys and pedals to just stop playing and reacting to the disk....I'm baffled. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

In other words, the player piano wasn't playing! There had been no indication of any impending malfunction and it just seems odd that it stopped working so mysteriously. I tried the obligatory jiggling of cords under the piano as well as power on/off, but still no music. Any tips from the group on what might be going on here will be greatly appreciated. John

Disconnect completly the piano from electricity, wait 1 minute and connect again ! Goo luck ...

Julien, Thanks much for the tip. I did disconnect the power, but, unfortunately, no "playing" when I powered everything back up.

Don't know if this will help troubleshoot---I do get the following message when I turn on the control unit: "Piano Power Off! (PWM Over)" Does this ring a bell with anybody? Thanks!

Don't know if this might help pinpoint a fix---I receive the following message when I turn on the control unit: "Piano Power Off! (PWM Over)"

You will need to get an engineer to have a look at the piano. There is probably a fault with the key or pedal drive (e.g. solenoids, drive circuits, etc)

I think Bill Brandom is on the right track. Probably the key sensor is bent of fell off the key. A piano technician could pull the action and check. Do a Record and Playback test and see if the note records. Play back transposing one note to be sure. Does the note play when a Yamaha Pianosoft disk is played? Transpose? Then maybe the solenoid is sticking. When the piano action is out of the piano, pull it out, wipe it off with a dust free clean cloth and put it back. Also check for foreign objects that fell into the piano action.

This is the piano with PWM OVER message, not the HS GS message. I think athomik is correct in his assessment.

Sorry about that!  I replied to the wrong problem!  My reply should have been directed to the person who had one note not playing.

For the PWM OVer message, I would look to where the Disklavier connects to the piano behind the pedal lyre.  Sometimes movers pull on this cable, OR it just looks like it is connected.  I would unscrew the fitting, pull the connector out, then put it back it in.

It could also be caused by the pedal solenoid overheating and shutting the whole system down..  That can happen because the pedal is out of adjustment.

It would be worth checking the physical adjustment of the pedal solenoids (instructions are inside the pedal solenoid cover), just in case something has moved, but failing that, it's likely to be an electronic fault.
