Hello, Are there some guys here with experience in making dnb on the MD and what is your opinion ? is it suitable for dnb ? maybe some links to dnb songs made with the MD ? thanks and regards, Peter.

It has all the sounds for DnB so now it is all up to the person sequencing it to make the dnb beats. This machine will blow your mind, it does mine everytime I mess with it. :) -Auto --- peter gremme <pgremme@...> wrote: > Hello, > > Are there some guys here with experience in making > dnb on the MD and what is > your opinion ? > is it suitable for dnb ? > maybe some links to dnb songs made with the MD ? > > thanks and regards, Peter. > > __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? thanks, but i read a posting some time ago, saying that the MD is only suitable for techno, hiphop and electro, that's why i'm asking. Who ever make a "Andy C RAM-RECORDS SNARE" on this thing ? i know it is also a hihat but the hihat is merged in the snare and that makes the sound massive !!!!!!!!!!!!!! peter ----- Original Message -----

You can combine a hihat with a snare hit on the MD. There are alot of different sounds that can be made from this machine. It is very good for techno electro house and hip hop but if you think about it, dnb uses the same sounds from alot of these genres. Alot of dnb artist use samples so I'm sure that they are using some made with the MD. :) --- peter gremme <pgremme@...> wrote: > thanks, but i read a posting some time ago, saying > that the MD is only > suitable for techno, hiphop and electro, that's why > i'm asking. > Who ever make a "Andy C RAM-RECORDS SNARE" on this > thing ? > i know it is also a hihat but the hihat is merged in > the snare and that > makes the sound massive !!!!!!!!!!!!!! > > peter > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Automatic Panic" <thesoundzoneinfo@...> > To: <elektron-users@yahoogroups.com> > Sent: Sunday, November 02, 2003 7:05 PM > Subject: Re: [elektron] MD suitable for Drum and > Bass ? > > > > It has all the sounds for DnB so now it is all up > to > > the person sequencing it to make the dnb beats. > This > > machine will blow your mind, it does mine > everytime I > > mess with it. :) > > > > -Auto > > > > > > --- peter gremme <pgremme@...> wrote: > > > Hello, > > > > > > Are there some guys here with experience in > making > > > dnb on the MD and what is > > > your opinion ? > > > is it suitable for dnb ? > > > maybe some links to dnb songs made with the MD ? > > > > > > thanks and regards, Peter. > > > > > > > > > > > > __________________________________ > > Do you Yahoo!? > > Exclusive Video Premiere - Britney Spears > > http://launch.yahoo.com/promos/britneyspears/ > > > > Yahoo! ok, but can you make them sound like it's one sound ? and you're right about the styles that are used in dnb, does someone here seen a MD in a dnb-producer's setup ? maybe in the knowledge ? those ram-guys make massive beats, but do they make them only with samples from old records or do they also use MD, rackattack or NI battery ? peter. ----- Original Message -----

yes you can make them sound like one sound, with the MD you build your own kit and just last night I used a bass drm with another sound and made a different sound all together. The MD lets you assign the synth sound to any of the sound selection, let me explain better, say you don't like the snare sound you can replace it with any other sound by setting it to the snare part then you have two of those sounds. It allows you to layer the sounds. Forget about what all the other dnb artist use, get something that you can use and come up with your own style. You'll be happy with whatever you decide to get. --- peter gremme <pgremme@...> wrote: > ok, but can you make them sound like it's one sound > ? > and you're right about the styles that are used in > dnb, > does someone here seen a MD in a dnb-producer's > setup ? maybe in the > knowledge ? > those ram-guys make massive beats, but do they make > them only with samples > from old records or > do they also use MD, rackattack or NI battery ? > > peter. > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Automatic Panic" <thesoundzoneinfo@...> > To: <elektron-users@yahoogroups.com> > Sent: Sunday, November 02, 2003 7:18 PM > Subject: Re: [elektron] MD suitable for Drum and > Bass ? > > > > You can combine a hihat with a snare hit on the > MD. > > There are alot of different sounds that can be > made > > from this machine. I couldn't agree more. the depth of sound in the MD is incredible, so I think it would be difficult to find a style of electronica that it *wouldn't* work with. so I have to *strongly* disagree with anyone who says it's good for hiphop and techno only. Hi, I would say that you maybe be missing snares a bit, since I found that there can be so many different snare sounds, that md surely cant do everyone of them. That said, drumm and bass is mostly sampled stuff which md can't do. This seems that it doesn't fit BUT I would say that you should still get md. You can use mds midi for sampled stuff. I'm using it with battery and with MD userinterface you really get beats going! I mean I would buy it for userinterface alone. I don't mean to say that it can't make good sounds, it can and it will, you'll see. It's your best change, believe me.. Hi, I haven't been able to reproduce AndyC's kinda snare, but it's true that with 2/3 sounds (not including the original sampled snare), you can get something that does the job very well, but not exactely this one. I actually made entire dnb patterns with the just MD, but it sounds closer to mike harris dnb than ed rush of course. As for the sample snare sound itself, I found the one on the mono much better as it can be used for old school jungle pretty nicely (In my wildest dreams I would receive a sysex file to put the MM samples in my MD instead of the original one, Daniel ? ;-), but on the MD, once you discover the retrig function, you barely use the raw samples. However, the MD surprises me everyday with it's power compared to most other instruments I know, I can make things some people do with 2-3 instruments. Even if it's pbbly not as good as a highend sampler for dnb, go for it, you won't regret it at all and will have lots of instant fun. And buy a MM, I haven't had time to tweak the sounds enough, but I already managed to get great leads and basses ! cu, matt --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, "tahvenaine2002" <tahvenaine@c...> wrote: > Hi, > > I would say that you maybe be missing snares a bit, since I found > that there can be so many different snare sounds, that md surely cant > do everyone of them. Hey Corey! No prob, man. I would have had it on this last trip but I wasn't expecting the extra $$$ for the tariffs, and I wasn't smart enough to leave a blank check. But I will have it next time. :) -a On Nov 5, 2003, at 11:05 AM, Corey Appleby wrote: > > Hey Arvin! I'm pretty amazed so far at the sounds I've been able to get...my synth experience is a work in progress and the MM makes it fun work indeed! :) --- In elektron-users@yahoogroups.com, aRvin Clay <silicone@m...> wrote:

IMO its better to zero in on what you are feeling instead of tracking that "one" synth or drum machine down that the other producers are using to get a specific sound. you will go a lot farther that way. angelzero
