This might be a byte-swapping issue. I haven't dealt w/ this in years, 
as most modern audio software handles this stuff, but the Intel and 
Motorola families of processors deal with binary data in opposite 
MSB/LSB orders. "Raunchy" is pretty much how I'd describe a soundfile 
played back with the wrong byte-order. Alternately, "bin" files are 
compressed data, if I remember correctly, and need to be run through 
Stuffit. If they still say ".bin" at the end, that's definitely a 
problem. I'm guessing that since they at least play, there's some sort 
of header intact, and it's probably the byte-swapping thing.
