If it was me, I'd :
- Uninstall logic.
- Trash all logic and emagic prefs
- Blow away the Logic PM database
- Save my autoload somewhere else
- Uninstall the HD drivers.

- Reinstall Logic, drivers etc.
- Start by creating a single EXS instrument with a single sample
  from scratch. Test it works ok.
- Import some ready made instruments - e.g. from the EXS factory
  CD and check they work.
- Import a single instrument & samples from my old collection and
  test.
- Import the rest of the old collection and test.
- Rebuild the entire PM database & test.

Then, depending at which point in the above procedure it goes pear-shaped I'd
start diagnosing from that point...

Not near my Mac but this should generally be the info as I recall.  Go to the audio page (Command 4), go to the menu file/refresh file info.  I've had intermittent problems with this in logic 6.x and that usually gets things going.   As a (slow) alternative, open project manager and highlight an exs instrument.  Look on the right side panel and see if everything is red.  If so you need to resolve all the file references.  Not sure why if it was working, it is not now, but If this doesn't work I'd give Emagic tech supt. a call.  They can usually resolve these kinds of problems.

Strangely when I open up project manager and select an exs file and 
double click on it,it loads to the exs editor with no prob.
Looks like only solution is to get rid of logic completely and 
reinstall unless someone comes up with a better solution

Has anyone difinitively found out why EXS24 will not load the samples? Even after 
pointing the samples and loading them into the editor I still get a sine wave only?

I am not sure I understand your question. I have thousands of instruments in 
my instruments folder. It was my understanding that EXS was intelligent 
enough to find said samples that it needs to load.  I choose an instrument to 
load from my list and nothing happens. It will not even load the factory EXS 
instruments.  Sometimes it will search and tell me it is making a conversion in 
the case of SampleCell instruments, but then it will not load anything into the 
editor at all. When I go to the editor and point it to the insturment to load, It acts 
like it has loaded, but then only plays a sine wave. Now I know a couple of the 
guys on this list had this same problem. What did they do to fix? Or what is the 
source of the problem?

Ah, okay, that's a problem indeed.  What you wrote above suggested 
something else though -- it sounded as if you were 'composing' a new 
instrument in the Instrument Editor.  In _that_ case you have to save 
the instrument and then load it in the EXS before you can play/hear 
it.

This is weird indeed.  If your instrument files (.exs) are in the 
Sampler Instruments folder they appear in the instrument list.  And 
if they do so, the EXS should find the samples automatically.
How about trying the Project Manager: open it, and find all 
unresolved file references for all EXS instruments.  When done 
properly, all EXS instruments should no longer be coloured red in the 
PM, and the EXS should now be able to load them properly.

Yes, one would think the project manager would be a help in this matter, 
however after several hours of asking the manager to redirect paths and 
watching it take an awful long time to do something... the result is still the 
same. I am not convinced that the issue is with the manager or locating the 
files at all. EXS will simply not load any samples, and in the case where I 
create a new instrument, or load one into the editor, it will only play a sine 
wave. It's bizarre. I know the samples are good, they even play in the add 
sample dialogue box, but for whatever reason, exs will only play sine waves.  
It doesn't even matter what kind of track I put it on, TDM, DTDM, Core Audio. 
It's really frustrating... At this point I'm holding my breath til Kontakt is updated.

And thanks for your help Hendrik, I appreciate your effort.  Got any other 
ideas?
