EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

I just upgraded to Logic 5 & 6 simultaneously.

I was looking forward to the trial period of the EXS 24.

However, I can't load samples or presets into it.

I can load the EXS into an Instrument track in Logic, but when I try 
to load a sample or a preset, I find the folders empty.

But they're not.

When I open the EXS Samples folder and the Sampler 
Instruments folder outside of Logic/EXS 24, I can see .aif 
samples in the EXS Samples folder and .exs files in the Sampler 
Instruments folder.

But when I open the EXS from within Logic and attempt to load 
presets/samples, the same folders appear empty from within 
the program.

I have tried moving the folders around, even though the manual 
stresses not to. I figuered as it wasn't working anyway, i had 
nothing to lose.

Now I have the EXS Samples Folder and the Sampler 
Instruments Folder in the Plug In Settings Folder within the 
Emagic Folder.

I know this is wrong, as plug in settings should only contain 
presets, not the samples themselves.

But I've moved them around so much, I've forgotten where they 
originally installed.

Could somebody with Logic 6, who has the EXS working,  look to 
see where these folders should be?

Any suggestions as to why the EXS didn't work after the initial 
install? Everything else -  all the other synths and instruments, 
work just fine.

Appreciate any help.

No idea -- should work afaic see.  Try running the Project Manager 
and have it scan your drives, to see if it finds the exs files.  Then 
have the PM find unresolved file references, so the .exs files point 
to the proper sample-locations on your harddisk.  Not sure if it 
helps, but it might...  Note that this will take some time, so go 
make some coffee in the meantime :).

Thanks for replying.

I 've moved the .exs instruments into the Sampler Instruments 
Folder and the .aif samples inside the samples inside the EXS 
folder within the Logic 6 folder.

Still, no samples/presets visable from within the EXS 'open (or is 
it load?)' option.

Where do I find the Project Manager? I've looked inside all the 
menus and I can't find it.

Also, I hope I'm not pushing your generousity but there is another 
problem I hope you can help me with.

When I open the Autoload Song, I can open all the Instruments 
and the Editor windows open as they should.

However, as soon as I open the 'Movie As Float' I need to work 
with, when I attempt to load into an instrument track, I am given 
the following error message: Direct I/O Resource Fork Not 
Found (-10109).

Thereafter, I can only open the Control display, not the Editor 
display for that (or any subsequent) instrument.

Don't want to flood you, but you are the only one you has replied 
to my post and I'm in the middle of a job.

i really appreciate recieving this information
concerning the exs.  i do have a problem with the
number of emails received.  just too much.  i am glad
however,  that i did open this one.  it answered some
questions i had and also brought another issue to
mind.
            i do hope you can help.........
      i have the exsp 24 running LOGIC 6.3 in OS
X(10.2.6).  the problem i have is that the exsp 24
only plays one sound(a sine wave-type sound).  i
change presets,  but no go.  still the same sound. 
any advice you can offer would be tremendously
helpful....thanks in advance,

??  Just a wild guess...  The EXSP is multi-timbral, right?  So you 
can load up to 16 instruments on 16 different channels.  Now if you 
load an instrument in, say, channel 4, but you still play the EXSP on 
channel 1 (where still no instrument is loaded), you would get the 
behaviour you describe.  Could that be the cause of the problem?

Hendrik,

Fixed it.

The .res files must have been incomplete. I reinstalled 6.3.1 
update and now everything works.

Now to explore/learn what has changed since v. 4.8.1.
