Help in Loading Virus Samples in EXS

Help in Loading Virus Samples in EXS

2005-03-14 by Kevin Kim

Is the best way to go about loading these samples to create a new instrument and assign each individual sample to a zone? Every sample comes in one note..so perhaps there is a way to manipulate teh sample to play
different pitches/notes?

I am trying to learn how to create instruments from WAVs/AIFS...and im having a hard time trying to learn it on my own

Steiny D - Sampled Steinway D for EXS24 out now!

2005-03-15 by Per Larsson

SampleTekk is proud to present yet another fine piano available as a
DirectDownload.
That means that you buy the Piano, and then instantly get a link from
where you can download your samples.
Beats UPS and Fedex but requires a fast line....

The Steiny D is a specially designed concert grand that uses samples
from the Black Grand session. The sampleset has been taken down in size
to make it downloadable.
The Steiny D has 8/8/8 velocity layers, 8 samples recorded pedal up, 8
pedal down and 8 releasesamples per recorded note.
The instrument used for the Steiny D was a Steinway D Hamburg concert
grand.

The Steiny D are now available in Kontakt/HALion/EXE24 format (Giga3
will follow shortly).
Price: $80!

If you agree that the sampled pianos sound like 2 (or at best 4) levels
of velocity, you may want to listen to the PMI "Old Lady" Steinway D.
This demo clearly has more than 4 velocity levels sampled. I've been
very happy with it for the last month:

PMI also have great pianos but again..... Steiny D has 8/8/8 TRUE UNIQUE
velocity samples (our pianos Black Grand and White Grand has 16....)

I don't know what SampleTekk does, but there are sample recordings
which can reproduce so many velocity levels. A quote from Michiel
Posts pages (http://www.postpiano.com):

The recorded piano was equipped with an advanced computer operated
playback mechanism that was designed by mathematician, scientist and
inventor Wayne Stahnke. The mechanism actually operates the piano
keys and pedals with over 1.000 steps accuracy for inverse hammer
velocity. The Stancke computer system enabled Amsterdam based sample
library producer Michiel Post to capture each velocity layer for this
library with absolute velocity levels. These levels guarantee a
totally even response across the whole keyboard for all velocities.

I'm not affiliated with Post Musical Instruments, I'd just thought
this may be relevant here...

Almost right. Create a new instrument, then create a zone and assign
one of the samples to it. That's it! Now it plays different pitches all
up and down the keyboard. You can Rename your new instrument,
Close and move on to create another one with a different sample.
