We found in studies that there are a variety of anomalies at the beginning
of the sample which don't show up on the source but are apparent on the
destination.
Most software samplers, including the EXS, are much faster responders than
their hardware counterparts. They work "computer perfect" so to say. For
example, if a sound has lot's of low frequency content and does not start
out at 0 amplitude, the EXS will sometimes "complain" that is, put a
audible pop in (which makes your Bass library report not surprise me). Same
with other software samplers - Giga, HALion, etc. There are other things
that cause this as well.
For this reason, in Translator, we put in a "fade-in for computer based
samplers" option, which fades in the first 16 samples; forcing the sample
to start at zero amplitude. We were going to just go ahead and make this
automatic, but we found that the "glitch" is actually preferable on
percussive type sounds (drums, etc.). So it wound up being an option that
you can use whenever something like this happens.
Check your .wav's on your example - do they start at zero amplitude, or do
they start at 3000 - 5000 whatever? Is the glitch more pronounced on the
lower frequency samples?
