We'll you'll be a happy fellow. The VS is one of my all-time favorite synths,
and it's one of the instruments that I own that NOONE has my large library of
original patches of! I've kept them private for my own recording session use
for the last 14 years, but we decided to make these colors a big part of the
Atmosphere sound..so we did extensive sampling of them in high res
multisamples....you will really dig it, especially when you combine that
great VS color with our layers of JP-8, CS-80, Memorymoog, Indigo, JP-8000,
XV-5080, Absynth, Prophet 10, JD-990, Waldorf Wave, Super Nova, Oberheim 8
voice, Waldorf Q, Metasynth, Andromeda, OB-X, Poly 6, K-5000, Reactor, etc,
etc layers....this thing is really a monster.

All correct, but without a split function...we'll leave that to the host
program.

promises, promises :o)

In a Email, M.Persing says that his VSTi use less CPU than EXS24... hummm
how can it be ??
EXS is a sampler player ( and in V5 with a stream function...)....
When I see all those function that "Atmosphere" can do ... I doubt...
can it be MultiTimbral ?

Of course I remember it and sadely me too i sold mine.

Actualy I'm still using my "Good Old" Waldorf MicroWave is doing the job very
well too with analog filters and digital waveforms you can create very
wonderfull pad's with non static waveforms and evolutive sounds.

Let me clarify. The instruments use varying degrees of CPU per instrument
task. We can optimize the polyphony for each patch so this helps a lot. The
current CPU performance is similar to a really optimized EXS24 system. Each
one has varying degrees of CPU load:

Stylus=Very Low (lower than most EXS use)
Trilogy=Low (similar to EXS)
Atmosphere=Moderate (about like Absynth)

Hope that helps.

We are using all originally created sounds from these instruments of course.
There are no copyright/licensing issues since we are only using our own work,
not any work created by anyone else. In the case of the Roland instruments,
it's a unique situation...we can also use some of the factory sounds since I
created them and own the copyrights. (But the focus of what we are doing is
really on brand NEW sounds).

In the marketing of the instruments, we don't make a big deal about sampling
all these classic instruments, to avoid trademark infringement issues. (which
is different than copyright...trademark protects your company and product
names).

If you've followed any of our CD-ROM library developments in the past, you'll
see that we frequently use a massive array of every kind of gear to make our
products....that's what gives them such depth.

This may be interesting for you to read about our methods:

Will it be a standalone module or just a plug in?

According to the website just a plug in.

I am running a native system that I like to keep quite lean, and I have
several computers that I turn into standalone modules, ie giga, reaktor
etc. VSTi's are fine but I would much prefer a standlone module such as
the way Absynth, B4, Reaktor and Pro52 are, rather than need a host
program to allow it to function.
I know there are a couple of vsti wrapper programs around but they are a
bit finicky and crash often.

Is there any chance of having this program available as a stanalone?

Regards,

James

The Spectrasonics instruments are working well with VSTi Host and a couple of
others that we are testing. It is a cool way to work to dedicate an older
laptop or an iBook with an MT-4 and an 828 to use it for a module or two. It
does free up your main system quite well. VSTi Host's latency seems to have
the best performance on Mac so far.

We'll have a recommendation in the product for which stand-alone VST hosts
work the best for Mac and PC. No need to make a stand-alone version if they
will work reliably with one of these inexpensive or shareware hosts. We may
even include them in the product as a demo version for those that wish to
work this way.
