EXS-Trigger on key release function

EXS-Trigger on key release function

2003-04-12 by Julie Larson

No problem Henk,

I never found the solution and the guru's on the EXS list never picked
up the issue. It just doesn't seem to work. I'm going to post this
and see if we get any interest...I have several instruments that make
use of release samples..it certainly adds realism..

I guess something could be done using the logic modules in the
environment. I guess the "transformer" should be able to do the
trick. With this module you can transform note-on to note-off and
vice versa. By routing it between your MIDI-input and your
audio-instrument it should do the trick.. I guess!

Hope this helps. Greets, Daan

You're implying that the trigger on release in the EXS doesn't work?
Weird... I never tried it, but would suspect to have heard more
complaints if this is true. I'm way too busy right now to look into
it, but maybe someone else knows more about it? Any takers?

And yes, you could indeed use the environment to transform note-ons
into note-offs. Fairly simple in fact, although I wouldn't resort to
such a workaround unless I was 100% sure that it's needed.

I'd be curious to hear from others who've worked with release samples...

Thanks for the reply Hendrick,

I've tried everything I could think of. I can trigger a sample with
note on but when I set the same sample to trigger with note
off...nothing....I asked about this @ 2 months ago on the list...no
takers. I get the impression that no one has tried it. Surprising
considering that Sam Horns has instruments that make use of release
samples...I know there are quite a few people on the list using them.
It is hard to imagine that is really doesn't work...I keep thinking I'm
missing something.

EXS-Trigger on key release function

2003-04-13 by yael

Hi all,
I found something interesting:
We must insert a "DECAY" to have the release trigger ON !
On the same line than "release Trigger" you have to insert some decay ( 200
or more....) whatever the "ms" is "on" or not !

it works good here but don't forget to SAVE and Reload the EXS Instrument
( boring !!)

I just saw Igor's reply, saying that you need to set Decay to >0 for
the release triggers to work. Makes sense, if you think about it
(although I would have expected it to be Release instead of Decay...
oh well...). Does that indeed solve the problem? (still no time to
try it out myself...)

Hey thanks Igor,
I haven't had a chance to try this...it has been a crazy week...that's
a good thing...but I'll try it this weekend. Thanks so for your help.
