How do you get a good "tube" amp sound?

How do you get a good "tube" amp sound?

2007-04-17 by potential2themax

I have a 2101.  I'm wondering how you all get a real "tubey" sound;
that rich, warm, glowing sound... as opposed to a harsher solid state
sound? I imagine proper EQ'ing? A tad of phaser on slow??

I've learned so much so far, and a BIG thanks to ya'll AND Glen. Mark

Thats a good question. Im my endless quest for great tone I found that Tube power amps and quality transistor distortion are better than the vise versa. I was wondering how the 2101 sounded with say a Mesa 50/50 power amp or something like that.

I have the Tube 100.
I also have a Sunn SA21 that I used to used prior to owning the gsp.I tried that with the gsp and it sounded good,but the tube amp sounds much sweeter.

Secret..... Turn off the compressor and hear the differance.

Glenjamin.
Also I'm very pleased with my 16 Lbs power amp that is NOT tube. Tube power amps make a big differance when you lift them. :-)
