from what i understand? the 2112 has alot of cool features, but lacks the bottomline tone that the 2101 has(ie digitech went for more bells and whistles and managed to screw up the intial most important stuff (ie tone) in laymens terms? the 2101's are deffinately more desirable even though they were made earlier than the 2101's

I think it s exactly the opposite. The 2112 was dumbed down for musicians who didn t want to spend the time programming the unit. It however has better sound

i am not sure about it(the 2112) being made more user friendly or not but some of the tech's at digitech told me directly about the changes in the tonal paths and that they personally as well as alot other digi heads feel there was a noticabe difference in sound(ie that the 2112 sounding more sterile and more solid state-ish,but hey there's people who like Marshall's over Mesa Boogies! and vice-versa lol! which only makes sense that the 2101 seems to be more in vogue and in demand??

I ve only played the 2120 and 2112 for a few minutes in stores so I really can t comment accurately. I thought the sound was quite similar. The 2101 sounds

im surprized that you found the 2101 to sound more sterile? really??(everyone hears things differently)no offense but i'll have to agree with the digitech techs and most of the general population in defense of the 2101's! ,by no means don't get me wrong both really good units!

Re: 2101 and 2112 in comparison

2007-07-22 by belphedeus

Wow pretty interesting replies here.I dont own a 2112 but i do won a
2101.Before that i had a Digitech RP-12 and i loved that unit a
lot.Honestly the analog distortion was the one that really interest
me.Recently i bought a GNX3000 to replace the more than a decade RP
unit. And what a disappointment it was....other than the cool
interface to PC the unit was really a lack lustre.
I was so frustrated that i went online and aquired the 2101.And DAMN
i believe this is a good investment ever sincethe RP12 uniot i bout a
decade ago!
Ok back to the topic, i'd like to know from those that own the 2112
or know the technical specs of the unit.Does the input voltage of the
2112 similar to the 2101?Does it have a PCB card to the input
transformer where you can shift the zero resistor to the input
voltage of your country mains.Cause when i first bought the 2101 it
was on 110V but i was told to open the unit up and resolder the
resistor to suit the supply voltage from where i am.From later ver
productions of the 2101 i understand that the other taps of the
transformer have been clipped so it can only work on one voltage that
it was intended to.
Thanks hope to hear from you guys!

I too own a RP12. What a fantastic pedal. I also own 4 2101's. I
have no reason to change. Yes, a few of the effects aren't as good as
others... but with the RP12 and a 2101 in my arsenal I'm more than
happy.

Is the RP-12 the best of the RP's? I'd like to have a good all in one floor pedal.

Well i have never tried the other RP models but RP 12 really
bites....the analog dist is amazing.Easy to program if you ever
meddle with the 2101.The only downside is that the algorithms are
fixed.
