CZ3000

CZ3000

2011-11-19 by Mike Ward

Hello all, I need a little help. I have a CZ3000 that I haven't used in a
while. It used to be able to save to the RA-3 cartridge that I had in it.
I'm trying to save off the internal Timbre's to a cartridge. I have 5 RA-3
cartridges. I press the cartridge key and it asks me cartridge save or load?
I then respond save and is asks me bank A,B (Y/N)? So I respond Yes and it
looks like it's writing to the cartridge after a couple of seconds the
display says Bank A,B OK. I check it by pushing the memory Bank A key then
the 1, but it just says memory A1, or A2, or A3 etc.... and no sound, like
nothing was written to it. I have tried several cartridges and no luck. Can
anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? I have checked the batteries in the
cartridges with a volt ohm meter. They appear ok. I replaced one of the
batteries and I still get the same results. I haven't abused it, I just let
it sit for a few months and now I can't seem to write to the cartridges. Any
help appreciated. Is there a factory reset I can do?

Thanks.

Sorry to say so obvious thing but are you sure there are some data in
banks A and B? I write this because I had similar problem with
CZ3000. There's backup battery in my machine, but after some longer
time when it's not used its internal memory is erased...

Yes, there is data. I can press A1 and sees BRASS ENS.1 and it plays through
the AMP.

I wrote an extensive reply to this, but evidently Yahoo Groups posting system must have crapped out. Maybe I will try to repost it one of these days. In short: (1) check the protect switch, (2) do a systematic test.

It does not seem that you did either of these things since you do not mention doing so.

PS: (1) I would be very curious to know if doing a reset solves the problem. (2) I could be wrong, but so far as I remember, you need to load the patch data back into the CZ in order to hear it. From what you described, you didn't try that.

Sorry if my reply confused you. I was replying to the original post, not your reply. I guess I could have made that clearer.

CZ3000

2012-08-02 by Mike Ward

Hello all, I have a question. I have a CZ3000. I can write individual
presets to the cartridge by pressing the preset I want to write, then I hit
the write button and press the cartridge preset I want it written to. This
works. What doesn't work is when I use the cartridge button with the save
option. Even though it says save ok nothing is written to the cartridge. Is
there a way to factory reset a Cz3000? I have the manual so I know I'm doing
the dump correctly. Any idea's as to why the bulk dump won't work, but the
single dumps do?

As you mix more themes in your question, I'm confused what you want to
know.

1. Saving all internal programs to cartridge at once?
2. MIDI SysEx bulk dump?
3. Factory reset?

There's a difference between writing data, saving data and bulk dump
data...

Presets are always in ROM so there's no need to reset them. RAM can be
filled by sending Bulk dump from computer or other data recorder able
to transmit SysEx bulk dumps.

I think Mike is after saving to cartridge - I have to say - I have not used this facility any more than once on a RA100/HT700 - not used it on the CZ,since the one I had already had stuff on it..so I'd be interested in what anyone has to say about storing a whole bunch of patches at once using SAVE to a cartridge.

Re: [CZsynth] CZ3000

2012-08-02 by Daniel Forró

Description in manual looks clear and easy, it should work... If not,
problem can be in the instrument or in the cartridge. You can check
where problem is by crosschecking:
- check the same cartridge in another instrument
- check the same instrument with another cartridge

Then you can try to focus where problem can be.

Maybe put new battery into cartridge and try saving?
Or erase cartridge completely, write initialized program into all
memories one by one and than try saving?
Or put battery in the cartridge away for some time to erase it
completely, then try once more saving?
Also cleaning contacts of cartridge or cartridge slot inside the
instrument can help, maybe some contact responsible for enabling
saving all data is dirty and hasn't good connection. Try normal rubber
eraser, or some de-oxit liquid.

I’m trying to do a bulk dump of A1-8, B1-8 and C1-8, D1-8 using the
cartridge button of the CZ3000. This does not work, but doing an individual
preset does.

Then it's not bulk dump - this term is used last 29 years in the world
of MIDI only for SysEx transfer. What you want is just saving to
cartridge.

Bulk dump has nothing to do with cartridge. It means transmitting
SysEx data to MIDI or receiving them into instrument.
