CZ3000 suddenly died...

CZ3000 suddenly died...

2012-03-12 by ROGER

Apologies if question has been answered before, but old posts are hard to sieve through!

My CZ3000 died when left on for a few hours, the display etc. still works, you can switch parameters etc. but no sound... I left it off for 24 hours then tried again, still no sound. Tried Headphones, no sound that way either. Any ideas?

relay is shot just exchange for a new one or bypass its only there to stop the sudden rush of sound which can cuase a thud its there for speaker protection but if you turn down the
volume fader on mixer you can switch it on with no problem

its a common fualt and its the same for other synth yamaha used the same type circuits the sy22/33/35/55 have the same and suffer the same problem the relays burn out and stop latching

ah :) you could torment Garth at Chicken Systems with a
request for sample format conversion, just for the hell of it.
(kiddin')

how do you find the floppy emulator? i was thinking of using one
for my atari. even wonder if viable for some other more common
samplers. i see some at high prices, then others around the 40eu
mark in Asia. same thing?

Re: [CZsynth] Re: CZ3000 suddenly died...

atari get an ultrasatan

the floppy emulator works

no need for sample conversion awave already does it save it in the fz1 dump format

what i was saying was that i fitted the floppy emulator so my machine never had a floppy any longer so that i could not load them and dump to fz format

as the emulator is in my machine i have had to result in doing the imd hxc fomat raw images that the floppy emulator uses and the fz can read from the emulator

down side is any images i upload the person downloading requires the same hxc floppy emulator to read them

Re: CZ3000 suddenly died...

it's cool thanks - your kicks are your kicks :)

i have considered the ultra satan, and a friend got it, you
have to find own case for it and assemble..i was wondering
if the emulator and a few old pendrives could fulfill same
role on the cheap.(but you lose floppy)

do you know if the MegaST4 can have its TOS language changed?
i have a french one, but its a bit of a drag, would like to
switch to english: do i need a new eeprom?

also: it seems they need 40secs for the reboot to initiate,
which the regular STE i've had for 17yrs doesn't. that also
doesn't have the fan noise! and has TOS 1.06.
i got the MegaST4 for the format eg: separate k/b, but it doesn't
really seem to be an advantage after all, and i think they are
the equivalent of STFs, rather than STE.
any knowledge? (impossible to join the atari forum, absolutely
no idea what the correct repsonse to the trick question is, i
tried everything and they have no contact email!!!!!

and yeah: i think AWave looks better than ChickSys. dead simple
to do a drumkit, you just choose map consecutive keys or whatever,
bam, it's done.

Don't just start replacing stuff because you feel like it. Track the fault down properly.

If it all powers up but no sound comes out, the muting relay is always the first suspect.
