Just aquired my first electronic kit - a DTX v1 - through ebay. I've been surprised by how easy it is to get to grips with all the different variables in the module but I have a worry: the Tom1 input produces no sounds at all. And it doesn't react when I hit the pad in Voice Edit mode. Can anyone suggest any checks I can make? Thanks! Tim

Welcome aboard. First try a factory reset. Second, try a different cable from one a tom that does work. Third, try a different tom pad that does work on one of the other inputs. Fourth, move the tom pad that doesn't work to another input. Let us know if any of these help. OGD ________________________________

Thanks for the suggestions! All followed and no change. Any other thoughts? The factory reset should have cleared out anything that was reprogrammed. I believe this module had an auto-detect of pad types. After you did a factory reset, did you turn the unit off? Try unplugging all the pads. Turn the unit on. Do a factory reset. Turn the unit off. Now just plug in one pad to the tom1 input that you know for sure works. Turn the unit on. What happens then. If it still doesn't work, you could open up the module and see if the jack inside the module is loose or has a broken connection. Also, email the person you bought it from and ask if they had any problems with that input. OGD ________________________________

We're making progress! I hadn't switched off, so I did that, unplugged, plugged one in to tom1 and hallelujah it worked! However, it disappeared again when I plugged everything else in. So I unplugged, switched off and on again, and again tom1 was fine. I plugged everything in one at a time, checking tom1 after each connection. It was fine until I plugged the snare in (the socket next to it), when it stopped working again. The only one I hadn't plugged in at this point was tom2. Does this confirm the suspicion about a bad connection at the socket? Thanks for sticking with me! Since it does an auto detect only at startup, you need to make sure the unit is turned off, then plug everything in and then turn it back on. If you do this one pad at a time, just remember to turn off the unit before you plug anything new into it. OGD ________________________________

You're a star! Followed your instructions (I thought) and didn't think it had worked. Took the cover off to check the socket wiring - no wiring visible! Put it back together. Thought "What if..." and switched off, plugged all except snare in - everything worked except snare. Plugged snare in - it all still works! Switched off and on a couple of times to check and it's all still working! You've made a worried man happy! Thanks so much for your help - hope I can return the compliment sometime. I guess you've been using these kits for years? Glad you were able to bring it to life. There is also a YamahaDTX group here at Yahoo that specializes in the DTX variant. You might want to check them out as well for tips on using the DTX. OGD --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "Tim Scarborough" <timcazeve@y...> wrote:

I'm still learning the language! It's a DTXpress version 1, so I guess I'm in the right place! Tim --- In DTXpress@yahoogroups.com, "oldguydrummer" <rdamon@m...> wrote:
