Even with MeasureTool 4.15, they were grayed out on the icons, but you could stil use them if you used the Menu. Bob Frost.

I just downloaded Babelcolor (www.babelcolor.com) and the measure function works perfectly with the eye one photo. The program has many professional features and costs only $65. woody spedden --- Bob Frost <bob@...> wrote: --------------------------------- Even with MeasureTool 4.15, they were grayed out on the icons, but you could stil use them if you used the Menu. I just tried both profilmaker 5.03 followed by
profilemaker 4.15. You cannot use the spot measure
function in 5.03 without the dongle. However you can
use it in 4.15 (Both from the menu and clicking on the
spot function icon.
However, I am a bit of a novice when it comes to
interpreting the lab data. Is there a simple
conversion from lab values to density?
Help would be appreciated

Hi Woody, I'm not sure where you are running into trouble. Which computer? Mac or PC ? I'm mostly familiar with Mac. Which program are you running? You have to download the whole ProfileMaker 5.0.3 product but you run just the MeasureTool application which is in the same folder. First you must Configure and select Eye-One device, then close the dialog. Then under Measuring you should be able to select either Chart or Spot. I've used both extensively and I don't have a dongle. For the QTR tools, I always use Chart with the supplied target and references. They do read out Lab but there's no need to convert to density. You're right, Steve. I wasn't getting the OK, because the software really wasn't sensing the presence of the device. When opening the Configuring menu in 4.1.5, with the menu set to Eye-one, Reflective, the software found the device immediately. In 5.0.3, the same set up did not work; I had to switch from Reflective to Emissive and back again, to get the software to see the Eye- One. All's well... :-) Ed --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Steve Kale <stevekale@b...> wrote:

I am using a PC with Windows XP Pro. I am getting
great results with Measure 4.15. But all the features,
including at the menu level were greyed out in 5.03. I
only had the demo version so I figured that Gretag
must have taken the spot measure out of that demo
version. I'll try again just out of curiosity, but
thankfully 4.15 gets the job done.
thanks for your help

I reloaded the PM 503.1 and followed your instructions
carefully including the calibration. The measure tool
is now working perfectly including accessing from the
icons.
Thanks

Hi Woody,
I'm not sure where you are running into trouble.
Which computer? Mac or PC ? I'm mostly familiar
with Mac.
Which program are you running? You have to download
the
whole ProfileMaker 5.0.3 product but you run just the
MeasureTool
application which is in the same folder.
First you must Configure and select Eye-One device,
then close the dialog.
Then under Measuring you should be able to select
either Chart or Spot.
I've used both extensively and I don't have a dongle.
For the QTR tools, I always use Chart with the
supplied target and references.
They do read out Lab but there's no need to convert to
density.
