Are you guys seeing an substantial improvement in the deepest black reading with the Epsn K3 over previous Ultrachrome. I know you should have some highlight advantage, but what about blacks? I am primarily interested in the 7800/9800 with our without a rip. John

John The Matte black ink is exactly the same. There is improvement in the OK ink. Steve

So, the answer is no change in DMax with K3 Matte black but there is improvement with the Photo black, or what? I'm not that worried about it, I'm just curious. John --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Steve Kale <stevekale@b...> wrote:

Yes I believe that is what I said. ;-) Now if only I could get my hands on some of those Nanochromes...If the black density is over 2 with longevity comparable to the UCs then I am really interested.

According to this test there is a significant difference in mk density between K2 and K3, depending on the media used. That is what I thought. http://www.inkjetart.com/news/archive/IJN_11-16-05.html#8 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > >> The Matte black ink is exactly the same. John What do you want me to say? The matte INK is exactly the same with the same order number, part number, whatever. The new PRINTERS have improved in numerous ways. Those are quite interesting numbers for PremierArt's Luster Rag. Has anyone tried this paper? Steve

I know it is very difficlt for you to conceive of, but I wasn't asking YOU anything at all, only someone who might actually know what they are talking about. And no one need you to tell us that the new printers have improved in many ways, that is common knowledge. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, Steve Kale <stevekale@b...> wrote: > > John > > What do you want me to say? John. I do know what I am talking about - I have a 4800 and have ordered and used the MK ink. For a short while after the 4800 release, the MK ink was the ONLY replacement ink available for the new 4800 simply because it is the old UC MK ink which of course had been in circulation for some time. There has been NO improvement in the matte black in K3 over the UCs because it is the EXACT SAME INK. This too is common knowledge and has been stated here and on the WF forum countless times. I know you've seen the posts. As you note yourself the printers using the new inks and the same MK ink have improved. Those printer improvements have led to better utilisation of the same matte ink. It really is that simple. Steve
