What is wrong with MIS? - is anything wrong with MIS?

What is wrong with MIS? - is anything wrong with MIS?

2007-11-28 by gerdmuller535

Hey out there,

maybe you have some advice for me, or maybe you have experienced the
same as I.
I recently (about 2 weeks ago) ordered a set of 8 funnel fill
cartridges for my EPSON 4000 printer from MIS, along with some bulk ink.
As I received the carts and put them into the printer five of the
eight(!!) carts were not recognized by the printer. When I moved them
around a little bit it happened that the printer sporadically
recognized it, but lost it again. I managed that all the carts are
recognized now - but don't dare to touch them again...!

So I complained this poor quality via E-Mail to MIS. After 10 days of
silence I started complaining via the helpserve eSupport system.

Silence.

So what is wrong? Aren't they interested in their customers? I can't
believe it!

What can I do now? Any thoughts?

Thank you,
Gerd.

Did you pay with a credit card? Dispute the payment, MIS will contact you
for sure!!!!

Try a buildup of tape on the bottom and/or sides of the carts, the
chips are not aligning, a known issue with many carts. If you lay
their carts next to Epson's you will see a difference in height and
width.

It seems then that all funnel filled types are that lousy, I have a similar experience for a 4000 also and 200ml carts.
There is nothing Mis can do about it as any other supplier, so I guess they are embarrassed and have no answer to give you.
The craftmanship is just terrible.

I have 17 funnel carts for a 7/9800 if anyone wants to make an offer -
some with chips, some without chips, some with tape, some with ink or
flush fluids still piddling on the bottoms. Anyone?

Has anyone tried the Lyson funnel carts for the large format Epson
printers? A very busy shop across town have had them for a couple of
years in the 9600s with Cave Paints and they never seemed to have issues.

I always called MIS rather than sending emails. I wasn't very happy with the
QC on their inks and cartridges but their customer service was always great.

Had the same issues when I set-up my 7600 with these carts. A couple of
phone calls and a couple of replacements finally got it going. Had no
issues since. Yes these carts are definately poorly built (and it
appears they are all the same regardless of supplier) but MIS support
has always been first class.

Yes, same here. When I first installed the MIS funnel fill carts in
my 4000 about 2 years ago I had to replace one and shim another to
get the chip contact right. Since then they have worked flawlessly
with no problems.

I have a 4000 and these refillable carts. Sorry about your customer
service problems.

Does your printer recognize the carts if you press them in further and
hold them there? I had a similar issue with my carts. I just ghetto
rigged it - I looped blue painters tape top to bottom over the end of
carts while inserted and pulled them tighter into the printer. While
it doesn't look very pleasing, it gets the job done and that's about
all I'm interested in.

I had a chip that was sporadic in its connection to the printer.
After buffing the chip contacts with my shirttail it worked fine. I
suspect my chip had some finger oil or adhesive on the chip's surface
that was preventing a good electrical contact.
