Thanks Rob, Peter's pdf appears to be of the blue library, because it is not the same as the pink library. As far as I can make out, neither library contains this "Old Strings" sound. So how did it come to be so widely used? It's almost as ubiquitous as Sararr/ Arr1. Incidentally

Apart from Saxy and (possibly) the string sound in question, Jarre obviously made his own samples. He did not use many library sounds on that record, because there wasn't really a library yet. What else would one do with one of the very first Fairlights? :) So... does anyone know

There are TWO versions of the IIx factory library: Blue & Pink ( so named because of the color of the labels ). They're mostly the same, but there are some differences too. When I made the sample CD of the library it was mostly from the pink one. Sorry can't help you more. -----
