Need help with a computer stopping

Need help with a computer stopping

2007-04-07 by Tim McLane

Can anyone help me? My computer constantly stops saying something
like "Core Audio was not able to process information fast enough" --
something like that. Here are my settings in audio preferences under
"Drivers":

I have a Imac G5 OSx version 10.4.9
PowerMac 8,2
number of CPUs: 1
Processor 1.8 GH Power PC G5
Memory : 2GB DDR SDRAM
Bus Speed: 600 MHz

Core audio: Diver Motu 828
enabled
i/o buffer size: 1024
recording delay: 0
max number of tracks: 20

64 busses (not checked)
Larger Disk buffer (unchecked)
24 bit recording (unchecked)
software monitoring (checked)

Process buffer range (large)
Rewire behavior (playback Mode (less CPOU Load)
Maximum Scrub speed (normal)
scrub response: normal

Any ideas?

Thanks.

we've all been there. You need a faster computer with more ram, or to run
less plugs, or freeze more tracks.

Hey Tim,

You didn't mention what's your usual track/plug count... What plugs?
Computer too slow?.. I am still on a dual G4 and I'm yet to see this
message (knock on wood :-) )... And may I ask why in the world you
have 24-bit recording unchecked =-O ?!

Best,

Andy

I have a G5 dual, and I get that warning at times. Its not so much the number
of plugs as which plugs. For example, I almost never use that Sculture plug
as it is so intensive. Other things like Garritan seem to take a lot of ram and
cause problems at times.

By the way, I checked my older Logic songs made v5 and v6 but opened in v7,
and I don't see anything strange in the song settings or tuning table. I think
Logic just has bugs. I know for a fact, that logic song files can get
corrupted, so its probably a good idea to make a new file, and just copy over what I
need.

Also, too many regions regardless of the number of tracks and VI's
can make that happen. I know with audio tracks I used to have to
glue together comped vocal tracks with a new region every few words
or so to keep from locking up.

First thing you should do though is have the System meter running to
make sure it's really an overtaxing of your computer and not some
weird logic vs. region glitch. Logic can do some weird stuff sometimes.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
