I guess it is most likely that the problem is caused by a damaged PCB. I started out with a bad soldering iron, and think I can have destroyed the PCB by burning it. Well that was a way to practice soldering. Maybe I will try again with a new PCB. The offset error on the outputs

Hi Stijn, The wiring is part of the schematic at: http://cgs.synth.net/modules/burst_generator.html CO (clock out) is connected to the switch lug of CI (clock in). Without this connected your 4017 is not getting the clock, and nothing will happen at your outputs. I hope this help

I guess a wireing diagram/drawing would help, I have nothing connected to the swich lugs of the jacks. the trigger from the internal oscillator I get comes from a pin on the ic, not from the jacks. at none of the jacks is any signal ore\ voltage. --- In cgs_synth@yahoogroups.com

I had a problem with my burst generators that was fixed by using a different brand of CMOS IC. Hopefully you used IC sockets. I replaced the first brand with Texas Instruments make, and all was well. Some CMOS doesn't clock well at low frequencies. Richard Brewster http://www.pug

How did you wire the inputs? The 1U non-polar cap buffers the Triangle input into the Modulator In. In my modules, I don't use the Mod In pad on the PCB. Check around there to see if anything's funky. Try the trimpots, too, to make sure the output levels are high enough and the i

I had no trouble with the VCO section, but I built it like my CGS VCO, which uses a different selection of resistors in the control section. My modification to the clock driver consists of replacing the 100n capacitor on the output of the CA3140 with a link. I've added a comment

My VCO didn't run correctly the first time either. With a scope I could see that the ramp output of the VCO (pin 6 of the CA3140) was very low amplitude. I replaced the MPF102 with a different FET and it worked fine. I have no idea why the original FET didn't work. The clock mod

Actually, I didn't use PCB mount pots. I just ran wires from the +/-V pads and the middle pcb mount pot holes. I may try out that clock driver mod and a bigger capacitor, but if I increase the capacitor, does that mean I'll never be able to get it to tune v/oct? --- In cgs_synth@

Yes, at the low end of the coarse knob, the oscillator is already in the mid to high range. It does nothing til about 9 oclock then it gets higher, eventually getting so high around 1 oclock that it stops clocking the filter. The only wiring mistake I could see affecting this wou

I just read through this old thread because I have a similar problem with my Bi-n-Tic. I can get a filter sweep out of the last 20% or so of the bandwidth knob, but the tuning knobs do nothing. This leads me to believe that the center frequency is stuck somewhere below the audio
