Matthew Kraus I still need some help understanding how to use Spyder2Pro. As I change the contrast(backlight brightness) control on my LCD monitor, is there a way to see the luminance values change in real time, or do I need to keep opening and checking the colorimeter with each adjustment? Thanks, Matthew Kraus

Thanks for the reply. If you would please stay with me with this, I still don't quite get it. After I select Backlight in the Identity Control window, it appears I have to select Measured as the Luminance Mode in order to have the option to put in my chosen White Luminance Value. After I do this, I again confirm Backlight choice and procede with the calibration process, hoping to be able to adjust the monitor Luminance control while it is calibrating. I do not see the "horizontal bar" you refer to. Am I doing something wrong in my workflow to not see it or is there a technical glitch? Thanks John,
That's a great window and seems to have all the information I'd
like ot see. Unfortuately, I'm on Windows. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Matthew Kraus

Unfortuately, I'm on Windows. Any suggestions? Geez...other than getting a Mac...no! 8-} But seriously I don't know how different the Sypder2Pro interface is between Windows and Mac. Are you waiting long enough after the first calibration process to have the White Luminance window appear as it takes awhile on slow computers.

--- Thanks again John. My PC window isn't exactly like your Mac's, but I do see the 4 white squares for White Luminance. What I don't see is a box to view real time changes in the White Luminance comparing the adjusted changes to ther target value as I change the monitor's brightness controls. That's what I am missing. There's 4 white squares also in the "Set White Luminance" window...but this window is only few steps in from the beginning of the process, (even before the Spyder is attached to the screen). Is that what your are seeing? Did you run the Spyder at all?

That's what I am missing. After some thinking.... Maybe you are stuck on this first "White Luminance" window expecting to adjust the brightness with the Spyder? It's not here where you use the Spyder this window is telling you to adjust the monitor to full brightness via the monitor's controls. If so skip this window and go on to the profiling process where the software will ask you to attach the Spyder to the monitor. In mid test another "White Luminance" window will open and it's here where you adjust the brightness/backlight of the monitor while measuring with the Spyder.

--- John...Thank you, thank you thank you! In following your further instructions, I finally found the elusive window. It just goes to show you, "after some more thinking" sometimes pays off. Thanks again. Thanks everyone for your input. I think I've finally got it and it's working as I'd hoped. If I have any more problems, I'll repost.
