Actually the name of the artists is Kerri Sherwood. She is a Yamaha pianist
out of Wisconsin. I suspect that the upload are the songs that she put on
the Yamaha Disklavier site.  This is a must for those that like new age
music.

Thanks for the correction Ron,  at least I got the 'wood' part right.  I
downloaded them a long time ago & I'm pretty sure that they were available
from somewhere on the Yamaha site.  I am sure that they were NOT copyright
protected.  I'll modify the entry to reflect the correct name.

Hi,

Does any one know of a person who can give technical advice on the web
on the repair side of the Disklavier Mark II part. The reason is that
the 2nd hand Disklavier I was trying to buy in Sri Lanka has some damage
to the disklavier optical sensor units under the key tray. Hence need
advice on how to fit it back and to find out whether there are special
areas to check before we power up.

Hey, is it just me? I have never had a problem downloading and unzipping, as
needed, files from this group. (I am a PianoDisc user and I do have to use
Powertacks and Gunter's software for conversions to general midi type 0.)

For some reason, these files are unzipping into a '.fil' format -- what the
heck is that? Powertacks can't open it. And, Gunter's midi conversion
program cannot open it -- although, strangely, when the files unzip, they
"acquire" Gunter's "1-0-2" logo as their icons! Can someone in this group
tell me what is going on with these? Was it something I did?

The .fil format is the Yamaha disklavier's proprietary midi file format. 
 That is why PowerTracks and other sequencers cannot recognize the file. 
 There are utilities in the file flault of this forum that will convert 
the .fil files to .mid (SMF format) files.  In actuality the .fil format 
is almost identical to .mid format but Yamaha made just enough changes 
to create their own proprietary file format for the disklavier.

Since PianoDisc plays SMF MIDI format 0 files, you need to convert the 
Yamaha proprietary format (.fil) to MIDI 0.  Download the dkvutils from the 
file vault, and use the convert program to change the .fil to MIDI 0.  They 
should then work on the Pianodisc.

I think Channel 1 plays the piano parts.  Even if the file has orchestra 
parts, your piano will play whatever you assign to channel 1.

Hi to all,

I am hoping to move to Australia by end of February and would like to
know whether anyone knows of a Disklavier group there? I tried the web
and could not find anything. Any contacts will be welcome.
