who has the lower emax serial number in this forum?

i have a model 1000 (keyboard, plain purchased), serial number 2047
(i'm not home right now but i think that's the number, at leas the
first two digits)
and a 1010 model (keyboard, hd inside from factory), serial number
1281020.

The last number doesn't make sense (if only 3000+ emax was produced),
but i'm just curious about the history of my emax

cheers

Sure, this could be fun!

Model 1000 (original purchase, 1988); S/N: 39110687
Model 1020 (Ebay, 2006); S/N: 9410487

I bought the original Emax keyboard (Model 1000) in 1988 from
Thoroughbred Music in Tampa, FL. I added SCSI using the SCSI retrofit
kit from E-Mu in 1991 or so. For a long time I had a Miniscribe 8425S
(the original drive Emu used in the Emax HD) in my keyboard. I had to
add a second power supply for the hard drive.

I bought the Emax Rack (1020) for next to nothing on Ebay in 2006 and
swapped the analog/digital boards between the keyboard and racks (to
have a SCSI Emax rack). I currently have an internal ZIP drive in the
Emax Rack.

Re: just asking

i wonder if the nubers has a logic count or something

other question that i ever had is, if is there some reason why some
emaxes does't have any print in the back panel, others says Emax, and
others says E-mu Systems Emax, and other curious thing is that my
emax 1000 has holes near the psu and floppy disk and the 1010 and
almost every emax not.

i know these questions are not thechnical and can bother other users
in this forum, but i'm trying to put mi mind in other things, cause my
girl left me from a 5 years relation, and i'm sad and lost, and my
keyboards are in her home (it used to be our home) :(

at the end, this is a community and i consider you as friends!

cheers

My model 1000 Emax 1 keyboard has the serial # 553. I can't check my
Emax II because it's racked up at the moment.

I have an Emax II "only" (rack unit). It is model # 2213, serial #
099200963.
I bought it in 2004 and it came with more memory than I expected, 8
instead of 4. I paid 177 Euros.

Best wishes for you my friend.

Re: just asking

I have an Emax SE HD Plus keyboard:

Model: 2100
Serial: 0290151

I believe it was a factory "Plus" because there is a bigger space
between the logos "E-mu Systems" and "Emax" on the back to make room
for for the SCSI connector compared to other models where the words
are closer together (funny that E-mu felt it was worth it to redo the
silkscreening to accomodate the connector!). But interestingly
nowhere on the instrument does it actually say "Plus". In fact from
the front it looks identical to a factory SE model (it doesn't even
say "HD" so maybe the internal hard drive was added later).

So maybe the Plus name was more a marketing label and not necessarily
an official model like SE or HD?

Unless I'm wrong and someone owns a machine that actually says "Plus"
on it?

just like mine...
http://flickr.com/photos/emaxhd/2489389088/

does anyone has a real plus model?

in the emolator archive says that the front panel has dots instead
bold lines, and i really like to see it!
my emax has the space between the E-mu Systems and the Emax, but is
only a HD (non SE) model (later i've done the SE update with the EMX)

My Emax looks different than yours, the space between the "E-mu
Systems" and "Emax" logos is wider to accomodate the SCSI port being
between them.

I just posted some photos of my Model 2100 in the Photos
section...take a look! There's a photo comparing the back sides of a
Model 2010 (HD SE) and the 2100 (Plus?)...if you look carefully you
can see how the backside logos are aligned differently under the
vents and connectors, and of course you see the blue SCSI connector
there in the Model 2100.

My Emax Plus rack is a strange one...
The label says the Model type is "E-Rack".
And (I think I'm the winner here :-) the Serial Number is 002 !!

I always found this a very strange Emax Plus: the front panel clearly
mentions that it is a Plus SE version (it's originally printed on the
front) and the inside boards are indeed plus boards. But the machine
didn't contain an external SCSI connector (I added one myself) and
the modeltype on the label is simply "e-rack".
The guy who sold it to me said it was one of the very first Plus
versions on the European market and it was sold to an - at that time -
very important music studio in Belgium which was using it for
dance/techno recordings (Technotronic...)

I posted two pics of this Emax in the photo section.

I'll also check the serials of my other emax samplers.
