So, Im fed up with all failures now. Can somebody please point me to a CF kit that actually 100% works with EMAX II. I would not like to buy a slim floppy and such, I'd rather have a the CF kit installed in an external scsi case. Thx.

you are going to find it hard now most kits have been sold buy a acard 7720u scsi to ide adapter by an external scsi cdrom case get a ide to cf adapter try and get a atapi compliant so that it is hot swappable and a 5.25"plate to 3.5" plate reducer for the 3.5" floppy size ide to cf card drive this set up is going to cost you a bit so shop around on ebay for the scsi xternal cdrom case discard the cdrom and the scsi to ide interface

Isnt that exactly what I recently bought and failed with? Not the same brand "Acard" but exactly the same spec. I got 2 scsi cases allready. :) --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "jammie" <jammie.emma@...> wrote:

What brand of CF cards are you using? How long are you allowing for the cards to format? I just successfully formatted two 1GB CF cards on an Emax II Turbo rack, but each card took about three hours to complete the "Verifying" process. I have tried a bunch of different CF cards. Most recently Sandisk 512 Mb oldschool Dos fat 16 preform. cards. No luck. The Emax wont even find the units in the scsi connection. So I cant format anything. :-( --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "Brandt R. Gassman" <brandt@...> wrote:

Ah, OK. I understand the situation now. Sorry if you've shared this information with the group already, but what external SCSI devices have you tried? The external SCSI > IDE > CF I'm using is the Spyrus MC-DISK2, which I purchased from scsiforsamplers.com in 2008 before they ran out. As noted, I successfully formatted two 1GB SanDisk CF cards with this unit (set to SCSI device #3). I've also used this device successfully with my Emulator III (set to device #5). Also, what type of Emax II do you have, and are you running the latest OS (2.14)? My Emax II was running 2.14 when I formatted the cards. i dont know if that card works as its the updated version i could not get it to work with the ensoniqs but the older version which is the pdf that you got did work with the ensoniqs and emax that model does work on yamaha a3000 kurzweil k2000/k2500 akais and rolands the settings i use for the idsc 21-e are no jumpers on the fist 4 sets of pins 0-3 as this is id 0 which the emaxes can boot from pin 4 and pin 5 need jumpers on this is for scsi 1 operation which is what the emaxes work at pin 7 depending on what your ide to cf card supports pio mode is good enough for the emax as it only goes upto 600mb format size any way dma is for cards bigger than 1gb check the cf card adapter to see what its set to if its a good quality 1 then you will have jumpers to set to dma /pio mode also the ide to cf adapter has to be set to master cant use slave as the scsi to ide wont read it no jumper on pin 9 as this puts it into flash rom mode and the device will not operate can you post a picture of the cf card adapter

Yes Im the one with the CD-Rom you recom. to buy. I have tried 2 different Quantum HD's in both my external cases and they run perfect in both of them. They also run perfect along with the internal HD at the same time. Have also tried all things with the internal HD disabled. I have OS 2.14 in my Turbo. --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "jammie" <jammie.emma@...> wrote:
