white dialogue boxes since EXS24 MKII?!

white dialogue boxes since EXS24 MKII?!

2002-12-02 by stevensugar

Hi,

anybody who experienced white dialogue boxes or other white
windows after working with the new EXS24 MKII instruments
editor?

During editing zones or samples in the instrument editor
dialogue and other windows turn white frequently and set the
system in very unstable condition - the system crashes within a
small number of mouseclicks.

Funny enough, the functions of the - now white - dialog boxes are
still there. I was able to save my work because I knew at what
position to click (in the save dialogue).

Any window I open after the first white window appears, is
opened totally white. all sample editor, plugin, etc...

Any comments?

Working on a 2*1.25GHz Mac OS 9.2.2 1024Meg Ram, Logic 5.5
and Motu 2408.

Steven

How much RAM do you have assigned to logic? On your system, I'd set it to at
least 750MB, which is good for pushing your VST DSP as well. Personally, I'd
set it to at least 900MB. Emagic doesn't suggest a ton of RAM as far as I
know. But in my experience it helps. Additionally, many 3rd party developers
recommend the 2/3 rule (allocated 2/3 of your total available RAM). Some
people may disagree with me on this. Just my personal opinion. If that's not
the source of the problem, dunno... -Jer

Get a PC. Sorry, couldn't resist.
Seriously, while I've heard about graphical problems from quite some Mac
users, there's no such problems with LAW.
Maybe Emagic is changing something to the better for OSX and these are just
some intermediate problems?

Yes, had the same one. And it crashes...

Thanks for your reply, guys.

I am sure it has nothing to do with the memory situation (I have 1
Gig). I forgot to mention that I had similar problems with versions
prior to 5.1.3, too, I think - the other versions worked fine until I
installed 5.5. It HAS to do with the new update, seriously. I just
could not figure out if emagic changed something other that
could cause this problem. So I must assume it is the new EXS
MKII .

Any ideas?!?

Cheers

I'm struggling with the same type of problem here too. I'm only running with
256 meg of ram on my Tibook 667, so I'm sure concerned to hear that
allocating massive amounts of ram doesn't solve the problem, because buying
more ram was my last idea to solve the problem. I've tried everything else I
can think of, worked for hours with extension sets, sync settings, buffer
settings.

It's all quite a bit more painful because I just received the Bigga Gigga
Rhodes for Gigasampler, loaded it into the exs... Sounds f@#$ing amazingly
good. Converted it very well. Virtual streaming works perfectly! It's quite
delicious. I'm very impressed and excited.

Now, about this little matter of stability...

I can't lie either. I've struggled with this on an early 5.x version. No
problems for a while though.

Any third-party VST-plugins involved? (means: do you have any in your
VST-Plugins-folder?)
