Hello All, So I'm having a tough time figuring out how to transfer the original patch libraries over to the K5m. I am in OSX Snow Leopard and am wondering if this is even possible. The librarian .jar file runs fine in OSX, I can select and open my "USB MIDI CABLE", but from there, I don't know how to initialize my K5m in the program - I just see the red icon stating there is no connection. I have checked the MIDI settings on the K5m and selected TRS=on RCV=on, TRS=1 RCV=1 OMNI=on PGM=SINGLE Thank you for any help in advance -Matt

Yes, I have both midi cabels connected - In the midi menu, I have to change the (exclusive) settings for TRS & RCV to "on" every time I power the k5m on. Once I toggle these settings, do I have to save? I have tried this but have no ext card - can I save this internally? Also, is there something specific I need to do to initialize communication between the k5m and the librarian program? Any step-by-step guidance would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, -Matt --- In k5synth@yahoogroups.com, Simon Kunath <sck@...> wrote:

Hello, Klaus' libraran may be Java, but MIDI support works off Windows only. He states linux so that would be possible. The easiest way would be to use sysex patches off any midi utility. Searching for "mac sysex" I get this as a first result : http://www.snoize.com/SysExLibrarian/ This is a generic SysEx sender. You could use the sounds-sysex.zip file and load a syx file to the K5. http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/k5synth/files/Patch%20Library/ MIDI TRS and RCV turn off on reset, that is on purpose, but turn them on. You don't need the ext card, all it gives you is twice the amount of ram for sounds. There is a load button on K5, but has never seen any use, unless you are tranferring between two K5s using save and load. Just send the SYX file with the sysex utility on the right port, and this should load a full INT bank. All you have to do is to place the protect switch to off and enable exclusive TRS and RCV. Oh, or in the files section, there are MIDI files. You can just play them on the USB MIDI cable. One waycommunication works for SysEx and MIDI. Until a proper librarian is found, SysEx and MIDI files can do the job of sending banks on the K5. --- In k5synth@yahoogroups.com, "antdes45" <antdes45@...> wrote:

Matt ... maybe my idea it's a lot more complicated but ... don't you consider to use de Dr. T's editor software? (you have to run it over an Atari ST simulatros, as Steem, or etc) ... I think is the best way to edit and send/receive patches between a PC and the K5 ...
best wishes, Alvaro.-

STeem doesn't run on MacOS though, that's the problem, you end up installing Windows for any easy solution. Maybe SoundDiver or Logic though, since eMagic was bought by Apple a while ago.

Thank you all so much for your awesome support regarding my question about tranferring patches to the k5m. I found that the generic Sysex Librarian program for Mac OS worked perfectly for transferring patches to my K5m. Upon enabling TRS & RCV on the K5m, my little usb midi cable light started to blink with activity, and that was my first sign of hope. Then, just loading up the sysex sound files and pushing "play" instantly sent them all to my K5m and watched with joy as all of the patches/banks filled up on my K5m's display panel. Woo Hoo! I now have a fully functional K5m to mess around with! Thanks so much again, -Matt --- In k5synth@yahoogroups.com, Antoine Deschênes <antdes45@...> wrote:
