Ashling EVBA7 & ARM Multi-ICE

Ashling EVBA7 & ARM Multi-ICE

2004-05-04 by Pauric Doherty

All,
I'm currently trying to get the ARM Multi-ICE unit to connect to the EVBA7 board from Ashling with an LCP2194 chip.
I cannot get the multi-ICE unit to reset the chip. It won't even auto detect it. I've followed the guide on how to enable the board for an external debugger but still no luck.
Has anyone tried the above situation .... or am I missing something obvious.
Thanks in advance
Pauric

RE: [lpc2000] Ashling EVBA7 & ARM Multi-ICE

Hi,

I have setup the MultICE to work with the Ashling. I only had to remove the
jumper for on-board debug, and leave the jumper on primary debug, do not
switch it to the secondary. MultiICE detected the core without any problems.
Once the core was detected I was able to reset and run the AXD.

Does multiICE see anything? Unknown device or something?

Cheers,

m.

RE: [lpc2000] Ashling EVBA7 & ARM Multi-ICE

2004-05-04 by Pauric Doherty

Milos

When I try to run the auto configure command, multi-ICE comes up with an
error message "Auto configuration Failed. Check the target power is on. Your
chip may require manual configuration"

When I try to load it with the supplied configuration called single.cfg, it
tells me that there is an ARM7TDMI present, but when I run AXD I get a
message telling me that "The processor will not enter debug state when
requested" and I then receive subsequent messages while trying to force a
reset.

On the EVAB7 I have
JP6 (ENABLE SERIAL_ISP) removed
JP11 (ENABLE PRIMARY DEBUG) inserted
JP8 (SECONDARY DEBUG) removed

Do I have to manually configure a target for Multi-ICE or should auto
configure work?

Thanks
Pauric

Hi,

To use JTAG debug on my EVBA7 with 2106 I also needed to remove JP12 to
disable onboard (usb) debug.

RE: [lpc2000] Ashling EVBA7 & ARM Multi-ICE

2004-05-04 by Milos Prokic

Dohery,

Make sure that JP12(On board debug) is also removed.

I never had to load any config files, auto-detect worked right away. I guess
you can't reset the hardware even when you use the config files, can you?

My version of multiICE server is 2.1.

As for the config files, are you talking about the ones supplied by the ARM
(MultiICE) or something else?

Regards,

m.

RE: [lpc2000] Ashling EVBA7 & ARM Multi-ICE

2004-05-04 by Milos Prokic

Hi Mike,

I wanted to ask you if you were able to download programs to flash and debug
them using AXD through MultiICE. I can easily work my s/w from RAM but since
my project is getting bigger every day I need to move some libraries into
FLASH. I want to instruct the linker to create several object files that I
can place in RAM or FLASH. For example have the f/w drivers, OS be in FLASH
while I only run code that I'm working on from RAM. I was wondering if it
is possible, and if it is how would one go about it.

Thanks in advance,

m.
