Hi David, For me I have always found that the AVRISP needs a really solid 5 volts supply when it is updated. I have found that the best way for me was to connect it to an STK500. It always programs fine. Last I did was 4.12 ... worked fine with the STK500. Jim ----- Original Mess

I do not have the ponyprog but sometime use a different programmer. I had in the past corrupted the fuse bits. To get things working again I had to connect another board to the xtal1 and 2 and generate a 1mhz pulse on the other board long enough for me to reprogram the fuse bits
