Hi David, For me I have always found that the AVRISP needs a really solid 5 volts supply when it is updated. I have found that the best way for me was to connect it to an STK500. It always programs fine. Last I did was 4.12 ... worked fine with the STK500. Jim ----- Original Mess

I have a collection of 3 AVRISP's in various states of failure. All got this way when AVR Studio asked to update the firmware and was allowed to. Not sure if I've ever seen it succeed. Yesterday one had 2.04 and AVR Studio wanted to put 2.07 in it. Failed. Then the manual procedu

You should double check in the ATMega128 documentation but when you select an external clock, you cannot access the ATMega since it is not correctly clocked with the external oscillator. Check that the oscillator is correctly connected to the XTAL1 and XTAL2 pins and that your os

it seems u have disabled the SPIEN bit while making changes in the fusebits, now ponyprog cannot read / write the microcontroller you will have to use some other programmer to re-enable that bit. if anyone has solution as to how SPIEN bit can be enabled please mail me also Date:

I do not have the ponyprog but sometime use a different programmer. I had in the past corrupted the fuse bits. To get things working again I had to connect another board to the xtal1 and 2 and generate a 1mhz pulse on the other board long enough for me to reprogram the fuse bits
