Are there any issues I need to know about using a Mega 1280 with Graham Davies' AVR ICE-cube? If that won't work, what's the next-best choice for jtag on a 1280, using windows and winavr? I already have the ice-cube. Thanks.

AVR Studio treats the AVR ICE-Cube in the same way as an Atmel JTAG ICE (Mark 1). So, you can't use the ICE-Cube with an ATmega1280. > If that won't work, what's the > next-best choice for jtag on a > 1280, using windows and winavr? The recommended JTAG interface is the JTAGICE MkII, which is $300.00. I heard somewhere talk of Atmel lifting the 32 Kbyte linit on the AVR Dragon, so if that's true you may have a much less expensive choice there. Graham.

The question is whether the 1280 is supported by the original AVR JTAGICE. The ICE-Cube runs the original JTAGICE firmware and is identified in AVR Studio as a JTAGICE (without a mk). > If that won't work, what's the next-best choice for jtag on a 1280, > using windows and winavr? I already have the ice-cube. Looking at AVR Studio 4.17 the Dragon is said to support the 1280. -- David Kelly N4HHE, dkelly@HiWAAY.net ======================================================================== Whom computers would destroy, they must first drive mad.

There were some threads on Avrfreaks.net on the suppliers. >I heard somewhere talk of Atmel lifting the 32 Kbyte linit on the AVR Dragon, You need to get Studio V4.18. I have used it with the new Xmegas chips and it supposedly can handle all chips with JTAG, DW, PDI. Have not been able to get PDI working yet with the Dragon but it will come good. If you can afford the JTAG Mk2 it's a lot more robust that the Dragon. Regards John Samperi ******************************************************** Ampertronics Pty. OK, then. If the job comes through (I hope, I hope), it's a MKII. Does anyone know anything about this clone? http://tinyurl.com/y8asm2b http://cgi.ebay.com/Clone-AVR-JTAGICE2-JTAG-ICE-2-MKII-Debugger-Upgradable_W 0QQitemZ330375704804QQcmdZViewItemQQptZBI_Electrical_Equipment_Tools?hash=it em4cebed30e4 Phil
