I've read so much about it here! It's time for me to try it for myself. Where can I download it? Thank you.

Here you go, you will need both programs if you are using Windows 2000/Xp... It's a great program and cheap.. http://www.sbillard.org/Shareware/QTRgui.htm Christopher --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "adolphamster" <dolph@m...> wrote:

Thank you. I succesfully downloaded both programs and then opened them (it?). Things seemed to work but extraordinarily slowly. This applied both to selecting the image I wanted to print and, finally, printing it. The print cropped the original image as well. What am I doing wrong? And, more to the point, what are the advantages of QTR over the Epson driver? I'm using Paint Shop Pro (9.0), Windows 2000 professional and an Epson 1280 printer. Thank you. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "cengell" <cengell@y...> wrote:

I tried once again to use the program. This time I got the message "invalid floating point operation" when I selected an image. I tried this several time with different images, even removed and reinstalled the programs. Same result. What now? --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "adolphamster" <dolph@m...> wrote:

Do your images have a "tiff" extension? If so, try renaming them to have a "tif" extension. I also get the same error message when trying to open a file with a tiff extension but I am able to open it after changing the extension. Don't give up - Roy's QTR and Stephen's QTRGui are really great. Metamerism free using the standard Epson inks. And very easy to use. You need to remove the QTRgui.ini file I believe. Michael --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "adolphamster" <dolph@m...> wrote:

Could you provide some more information: What OS What version of QTR What happened after you "OK" the "invalid floating point operation" Some description of the image: Is it 8 bit grayscale, 24bit RGB, or what. Was it saved with compression? What kind of compression. Was it saved with Alpha Channels? What is the size of the image? -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

No, just the tif extension. But thanks anyway. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, johnlill2@y... wrote: > > Do your images have a "tiff" extension? What OS - Windows 2000 What version of QTR 2.1.1 What happened after you "OK" the "invalid floating point operation" - the window where the image is supposed to be says "unsupported format" and has a red circle with a "/" across it Some description of the image: 8 bit greyscale Was it saved with compression? Yes What kind of compression. LZW Was it saved with Alpha Channels? No. And no layers. What is the size of the image? I tried several ranging from 5-40 mb. Thank you. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Stephen Billard" <stephenb@S...> wrote: > Could you provide some more information: > > What OS - Windows 2000 > What version of QTR 2.1.1 > What happened after you "OK" the "invalid floating point operation" > Some description of the image: Is it 8 bit grayscale, 24bit RGB, or what. > Was it saved with compression? Try the same image saving it without the compression. If this works, I'd like a small sample image that causes the error. -Stephen www.sbillard.org/Stephen

Hi, I just installed QTR on my PC. Using XP pro. Reading the help file, is it correct that you have to convert any b/w photos to grayscale? Also, to get the best looking photos do you always use the preset curves? I tried using the default of none and the photo looked terrible.I then used UC-Noblack-neutral on the left and UC-EEuhMatte-warm on the right and the the next photo was nice but not the best. I'm using a Epson 2200 and EEM paper. What settings would you recommend to start with? Thanks, Jake Fine Art Photography www.jakehellbachphoto.com <http://www.jakehellbachphoto.com/> [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I think you should always start with one curve set to 100%. Michael --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Jake Hellbach" <jake@j...> wrote: > Hi, > I just installed QTR on my PC. It did work. I will send you the file of the image which didn't work, assuming it isn't too big for my email server to handle. Next question: is there a place where the advantages of QTR over the Epson driver is discussed? I made a couple of 8x10 prints of files derived from scanned 4x5 negatives and don't honestly see any difference. What should I be looking for? Thank you. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "Stephen Billard" <stephenb@S...> wrote: > Try the same image saving it without the compression.
