Hello all. I've finally plugged an SCSI-IDE interface, an IDE-SATA converter and a 128 GB SATA SSD together and put the image of my original 2.2 GB Seagate SCSI disk onto the first portion of that drive. I've successfully booted AND used the machine for a while. Now I was wonderi

I had some spare time recently to scan FCNs for Series-III I have. I know those make happy some of you. This is a complete set which covers every piece up to MFX2 hardware. It's a treasure for every service engineer. Merry Christmas Fairlight group! https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/g

Far in the future, some extraterrestrials are picking through some relics on Earth and discover a CMI Series III. They figure out how to power it up, and begin to ponder its intended purpose. One says "It';s blowing a lot of air around...and it's quite heavy and solidly built!" T

Hi all. Seeing your recent thread, I thought I'd add some info. I had to replace the digital power supplies from two CMI IIIs, and since I've never seen it written down, I thought I'd monitor the power consumed by each card. The numbers are in amps, correct to about 100mA. As you

Just out of curiosity: how much power consumption are we talking about? How much do you want to cut it down? From: chaworth01@googlemail.com [Fairlight-CMI] Sent: Tuesday, July 14, 2015 2:32 PM To: Fairlight-CMI@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Fairlight-CMI] Can a Q777 be removed from

Thanks for the additional info Steve. Sorry about the typo in my previous post; clearly I meant Q007, not Q077.

From memory it only has one or two chips on it and a jumper. Again from memory, the jumper selects which slot the card is plugged into, one position will be the hard disk controller, the other the floppy controller. From: Fairlight-CMI@yahoogroups.com [mailto: Fairlight-CMI@yahoo

Thanks Steve. Appreciate your quick response. I actually have a Q077 in my (small) spares collection and did wonder whether this was the replacement card I was looking for, so thanks for confirming.

No you can’t just remove the Q777 – From memory there is some logic that is required to enable DMA operations to continue as normal. At minimum If I remember correctly you need a Q007 to place in that slot instead. This was a card with may be 1 or 2 LS logic chips on it that comp

Here is a quick photo of III-series running HxC floppy emulator firmware loaded into Gotek drive! Solution costs almost twice less than HxC SD card based. it fully supports native HFE format (reads + writes) and works great! Will check CMI-IIx next. You know where to buy this...
