I am t an Atmel seminar today an d just learned that IAR now has a free eval version. IAR make the *the* high-end AVR C compiler (normally mucho $). The eval version is limited to 4kb but otherwise has no restrictions & no time limit. Gotta love free software - Scanned for viruse

It turns out that M103 mode detection on the M128 is fairly straight forward. If the M103 fuse is programmed, the SPMCSR register is disabled and replaced by RAM. The trick is to set the SPMEN bit and wait for more than four clocks. If it's still set after four clocks, it's RAM a

Yes I have. I started with a "AT90S2313 Development Board" from Futurlec. And moved up to the "ATMega(32) Development Board" from the same. They both use a DS1307 on the I2C buss. It has 56 bytes of ram and is battery backup. I also have an IO expander (MPC23016) on the same buss
