OT: MIS Support?

OT: MIS Support?

2004-01-22 by LAJacobs

Forgive the OT post but I know many of you purchase from MIS
Associates and I would like your input on their customer service. I
was planning to purchase MIS bw carts for my C82 and/or my 1160, but
I am having second thoughts because MIS has failed to respond to a
customer service problem I'm having. The cartridge resetter I
purchased seems to be defective (tried 3 diff carts), which has
prevented me from refilling their carts with the UC match inks I
purchased from them. I contacted MIS via Email last Sunday but have
had no response thus far. I am unable to telephone MIS during the day
so email is my method of contact. I used their Customer Service/Tech
Support email address.

Is this typical of MIS' customer service?

TIA for input/suggestions.

I tried to contact them a couple times via e-mail and they were s-l-o-w
to respond. But when I called them, they were fast and courteous, and
extremely helpful. I think they are good people and a good company, but
form some reason they respond better to phone calls.

I have had good customer service with MIS. They have always been prompt
in getting back to me. Not sure which Sunday you contacted them, but if
it was this past Sunday then the next day would have been a holiday
(maybe not closed but could have been short handed).

I have used them for about 3 years and in my experience they always
honor their promises and resolve problems as soon as humanly
possible... now, I have never emailed for assistance, but always call
Bob directly (I get the impression that it is a very very small
operation... ) I am so impressed with their service that I would not
go anywhere else. Call up and I'm sure you will have a different
opinion.

PS this is typical of small operations, they can only do so much and
email can't be their first priority.

MIS will tell you up front that they're not the best as responding to
e-mail and that phoning them is the best way. My experience bears that
out. Like you, I'd love to correspond by e-mail but in their case I
find time to call. Call and you're find their customer service is
first rate.

Thanks to all who replied - what nice tesimonies! I'm going to try
again and will stay home a little later tomorrow so I can call MIS.
In thinking about it, Bob probably can solve problems a whole lot
faster over the phone than by trading emails.

I appreciate the input.

Linda J...who is a tad cranky what with a C82 needing a cartridge and
an 1160 needing a CIS rehab.

Cartridge Resetter (was OT: MIS Support?)

2004-01-23 by Chris Hargens

I'm not sure what your problem with this cartridge resetter involves,
but when I first used one I was unaware of the fact (no mention in
instructions) that you have to push against the chip -- gently, the
prongs will recede into the resetter -- to reset it and get the green
light indicating that the cart has been reset. I discovered this fact
by accident.

E-mail is certainly NOT the best way to communicate with MIS...

I do echo the sentiments of others here in saying they are on a short
list in my book as one of the most honest and user/consumer oriented
companies I have EVER dealt with.

I have conversed with MIS via email as I live in the UK. I must admit that
you have to be patient but they responded to each and every one of my emails
although sometimes with a 2-3 day delay.

Linda, one more thought. IF you've gone completely through all the
website suggested fixes and still have a problem, MIS is very good. I
know this for a fact.

But, I sense that if you just called them first without trying all
their website help, they may be less helpful. Actually the website
help is very good but does need to be better organized.

Mark hit it on the head. It's a small busy operation. But real good
people.

FWIW, I use their F-16 chip resetter and find it flawless.

I haven't used their customer support, but I use their resetter and at
the beginning I was unable to make it work. Mine does not alligns as
it is supposed to. I found that by positioning the resetter's pins on
the cartridge contacts "by eye" (i.e. by moving the cartridge a bit
off the resetter guides) it works fine.

For people like me outside the US as english is not my mother language, the
email is the best support option. It's a pain that MIS don't care this
online support.I have been trying to contact them since two days ago.

BTW, Mis write me because they have some kind of problem with the spelling
of my Last name PEÑA.
Could anyone tell me this letter is named in english?.
Ñ the same that in EspaÑa.

I also have had a few emails that were never answered,
and been put on hold (non toll free call) for so long
I just gave up... They may have good inks, but I am
not in any way pleased with MIS with regards to tech
support.

Aitor, just use the letter n as there is no ñ in the English alphabet.

Linda,

I have always had better results contacting MIS on the phone. It is a
small company and email may not be their best use of technical staff time.
Need to hire a guy in Jaipur with a flip chart. :-) I have bought ink
from them for several years and have been very pleased. There may be
someone on this list or the Epson list that can sort out your chip re-set
problem.
