I think you can still get DD floppy drives from Ebay and other places or an older computer. I don t know if an HD drive would work you could try though and

Maybe it depends on the degree of floppy disc failure. Mine still spins the disc but will give an error of unformatted disc sometimes. Sent from my Apple

The MX100A requires a floppy disk to be recognized in the floppy drive for the MIDI ports to function. I believe you can get a new FDD from Yamaha Piano

Your solution is the right one. Having a decent pianist play the material by ear will produce far better results than any of the current audio- MIDI software.

What Mark is saying is correct. The Mark III, cannot see or play MIDI files that are saved directly to a CD. The files must be converted to an audio format.
