You can load the xl7 presets into an xl1 there is a *.mid bank somewhere here bascially the xl7 in its first bank is more drum/percussion orientated ... v1.

Try exporting the MIDI file as a Type 1 MIDI file in your external sequencer. Also, you can Cut the track to the clipboard, and then use the Explode Tracks
