as per a previous post, i found a bad fuse, changed the fuse, powered up, and didn t get the low voltage message. Plugged in the headphones, same crappy sound.

This sounds similar to a problem I had except, all I got was the battery low warning, no sounds. The battery voltage is compared to a voltage from the PSU.
