It sounds like your frequency is set at the minimum all of the time, so look at the CV input and components in that area. Most likely it IS a constuction error. Ken >Hi, >I've built the synthacon vcf as per the rev.1. schematic, but am having trouble getting it to work. admittedl

Hi, I've built the synthacon vcf as per the rev.1. schematic, but am having trouble getting it to work. admittedly i've built it on vero board, but i was careful, and have thoroughly checked my wiring. Strangely when i run audio in the Low pass i get no out put, on the band pass

I use a Scotch brand preassure sensitive tape, which is a film of "sticky" between waxed paper. There is no tape per se involved. The stuff is designed for mounting posters and comes on a roll that is about 12 inches wide. If you want to use glue, laminate BOTH sides of the paper

Hi Group, I'd like to try the paper faceplate idea and wondered if any of you had tried it yet. I think I've figured out most of the details except for one thing: What's the best type of glue to use to attach the paper design to the metal (aluminum) faceplate? I'd like to use glu

The stalling would depend on the individual chip/brand. I have not experienced it myself. Ken >Hello, > >I finished up my Digital noise module this morning. I noticed that >if I turned the speed pot too far clockwise the vco would stall, so I >added a 75K resistor between the 15V

Hello, I finished up my Digital noise module this morning. I noticed that if I turned the speed pot too far clockwise the vco would stall, so I added a 75K resistor between the 15V connection and the CV input jack. I'm not sure if anyone else has had to do this, but I thought it

Blocking DC in this case. 8uf would be fine. The tolerance of these things is +/-20% anyway. The worst you could do would be to lose a little bass, but I doubt you'd notice it - your speakers probably aren't that good. (Nobody's speakers are that good). Ken >i'm building the drum

i'm building the drum sim board, and was wondering about the effect of using different size non-polarized caps for the outputs, like 8uF. are these used for decoupling, or blocking dc? trying to avoid mail order shipping charges and wait time (and curious). thanks, daryl

Well, I guess if you entered a sine, and shifted it up an octave, you'd have a second harmonic... You could make a third harmonic, fourth, etc... Added together in appropriate amounts you could re-create a sawtooth (32 or 64 harmonics needed really). The phase behavior would prob

Hi there, Agree with the statement that the best you'd get is a saw tooth. With guitar, I'd say to go the traditional way: first turn its signal into something with high harmonic content (asymmetrical distortion, waveshape to taste) and then perform subtractive synthesis. I guess

I don't think a pitch shifter (as distinct from frequency shifter) will really help. It shifts the present frequencies by corresponding ratios. At best I can see, even with feedback, that all you would generate would be a sawtooth wave. Anyone else care to take a stab? Ken >hi. i

To make it even simpler, all 100K resistors attached to the negative summing node of each op amp need to be matched to each other. All ten 100K resistors don't need to be matched to each other. The 10K resistors should all be matched, since they create a long voltage divider chai

Yes, almost, but make sure your meter has better than 1% accuracy. Many don't. You don't have to match 100K ohms. You just have to match the resistors to each other, since the gain is determined by their ratios to each other. So if they're all 99.83 K, that's alright. John Loffin

Definitely center off. I also used a center off for the loop/hold. In the center position the counter cycles through all ten steps and repeats, so it's like a 2-step pause after each 8 or something. Ken told me what it was doing, and I pretended to understand :) It's not particul
