I think you can send a message on controller number 3 to mute tracks on and off. Value of 127 mutes the track. Value of 0 turns it back on. A least thas how

Well, I just want to mute/unmute them, not to put the volume of the track to zero, silly. The difference is that when you mute a track the tone-decay fades out
