Thank you for all the advice. I was begining to doubt myself as fuses would run one rack and blow in the other. I removed all the modules and discovered the transformer on the power supply had overheated and melted. My understanding is that this is pretty uncommon but can happen.

The required type of pedals and double footswitch is mentioned on page 4 of the A-177 manual. If the devices match to these specs they will work. Foot Ctrl. input 2 is only for a continuous foot controller (rotary potentiometer built into a foot pedal) but not for a foot switch.
