how does Hcx get the floppy drive data?

I was watching this video of a emulator II running off the Hcx.. where does the data (emulated floppy data) come from? do you have to somehow transfer it from the floppy drive to the Hcx? just trying to understand how it works. has anyone got it going with 8" floppies?

Battery check

Just a quick reminder to check your internal batteries if you still have them installed. Just recieved a CMI III with extensive battery damage in for what seemed like a powersupply problem first but revealed a more serious problem. Q133 and Q209 beyond repair..... WT

I'll start by replacing IC9 (LM301). I've ordered a few of them, there are 3 in the input circuits, and go from there. I'll keep the forum posted. I'm under the impression that more users out there are suffering from the same problem. Best, David

I had the analog XLR sample inputs stop working in my SIII and after checking the board, pushed down on the socketed IC's and that resolved it. Its worked perfectly ever since. Not sure if it helps but it might be worth a try. Regards, Marty ________________________________ From:

Hi David. Having repaired a lot of these drives, allow me to offer some advice: First make a whole bunch of system and QDOS floppies on a known good machine. Sometimes a bad drive will corrupt a good floppy, and you'll need a good reference. Forget about mains frequency pulleys.

I was thinking the same. But I replaced the disk controller card with the one from my working IIx and the results were the same. The defective IIx still wouldn't boot. Next thing I need to try is place the faulty drives in my working unit and see if they work or not. David --- In

I'm helping out a friend who bought a malfunctioning IIx. Both drives don't work. It took us a whole afternoon to figure this out. It shows a distorted image while trying to boot from the system disk. However it's possible to boot from the QDOS disk. We swapped all the cards from
