It sounds like a TIFF format that QTR does not support. Sounds like the RGB might be interleaved. You can try saving the file and checking the settings.

I haven t heard of head scraping on the R800 and people use a lot thicker paper than Epson HW Matte. It s hard to visualize what you mean by 3/8 inch scrapes

I think the all black is caused by a TIF compression mode that is not supported. When you Save the TIFF file use only the LZW compression not the ZIP or Jpeg

I have had a similar problem. With the Epson printer driver, I use the Thick Paper and Envelopes setting under Printer Settings - ... problem.
