You need to run a bootloader update which you'll find in the Yahoo group files Bootloader folder... http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/analogue-sequencer/files/Bootloader/ The update file is called p3-bootloader-v3.1-T89.syx, with a readme file called p3-bootloader-v3.1-T89.txt

Thanks Colin I found some info online about the negative voltage generator and read through the spec sheets some more and realised all i had to do to bypass the neg voltage generator was connect pins 15 & 16 from the P3 LCD connection to the A & K connectors that the lcd had on t

Looks to me from the datasheet like that part is much the same as the ones I use. The backlight LEDs need a drive current rather than a voltage, but that is achieved by putting a series resistor in the supply. You may need to calculate the right resistor value for the LEDs used.
