I just double checked the number of pins and it is a 15 pin cable that connects the MPX1Z to the DKC500RW, I m not sure where the 9 pin cable comes from.

The connecting cable for Disklavier to DKV carries come control signals (5Volt DC) and MIDI. MIDI cables (according to the spec) can be up to 15metres long.

It almost sounds like a soundboard rattle. Look for a foreign object lying under the strings. Sometimes kids will put coins or marbles inside the round holes
