Tony's got a point but two PS500As is overkill for someone just getting started. As a quick rule of thumb, figure 10 modules per PS500. The power supply has some power jacks on it so one PSCONN2 would be enough for that. Ten standard sized modules would fill two Frac Racks. Note

Eric, I am a very clumsy german. Anything more sophisticated than, say, chopping wood scares the living daylights out of me. The de-springing of the A-174 was so easy even I could do it. Bending back the tongues may be a bit heavy-going (after all, they are meant to stay in place

Hi York, Thanks for the tip and the pointer to the web page. I thought the method might be to remove the plate but on my unit the four metal tongues are very difficult to pry open. I might try the spring cutting technique. Thanks! Eric --- In Doepfer_a100@yahoogroups.com, york lu

I know it's not an official Dopfer solution but you can always get a cheap eurorack frame or two off of ebay and install the PSU and bus boards of a DIY kit in that. At €120 + the price of the eurorack frames you can have two rows of modules mounted and powered for less than €200

Hi Eric, the springs are housed in the two small cylinders you find adjacent to the mounting of the stick itself. They are protected by a plastic plate which is held in place by four metal tongues. Pry these open with a pincer or a small screwdriver, remove the plate, remove the

You are in luck! Doepfer already makes those cases. 1) The "Ikea" type http://www.doepfer.de/a100_DIY_kits.htm You'll have to order the wood yourself but that makes it even cheaper. 2) a metal rackmount frame http://www.doepfer.de/a100z_e.htm It is called the basic frame. I hope

You have asked for new ideas for modules, what about new ideas for cases? One of the roadblocks that many people (including myself) have for purchasing a modular system is access to a low-cost case option. I would propose two ideas for cases: 1) The "Ikea" type where you purchase

Yeah, open source is the way to go. Look at what's happening in the Arduino and Monome and such communities... Hence my earlier proposal for a "simple" generic module... just a few non-labeled knobs and in/outs, on a generic panel. A Doepfer A/D/A interface, so to speak, with ope

Dieter, this sort of relates to my comments in another thread. People are asking for very complex 'one stop shop' modules. I believe that it is wiser to release the modules in a more slimmed down, cheaper version with which you can add those extra functionalities with a few other
