Hi , Is it possible to browse a Fairlight formatted Zip disk with CMI Explorer ? Does CMI Explorer treat a Fairlight formatted Zip disk the same as a hard disk ? Thanks, James Thomson Magic Audio Co. The Studio West Hampstead London NW2 3RJ U.K.

Hi, I would like to have one of my CMI 2X systems converted into a 19 " rackmount system. Is there anyone preferably in Europe who could attempt this for me ? Maybe someone here can recommend someone to me that would be suited to do such a job. I am willing to pay someone to do t

Hello, I've bought my MIDI IIX with the analog interface installed, but I never tried it with my analog synths. I'll check it in the weekend. Ciao Fabio Delben lairdfairlight ha scritto: I've read somewhere (can't remeber where)that a IIx with MIDI cannot have an analog interface

Hi Michael, You could use a MIDI to CV interface and control the Moog over MIDI. Much easier and cheaper too. Regards, Harald. > I've read somewhere (can't remeber where)that a IIx with MIDI cannot > have an analog interface card installed. Is this true? If not, can you > sequenc

I've read somewhere (can't remeber where)that a IIx with MIDI cannot have an analog interface card installed. Is this true? If not, can you sequence a mono synth using this card and run a midi synth as well. It would be great to run Page R with a minimoog....and a DX7! Thanks Mic

I've just watched TOTP2 on UK Gold 2 and was tickled to see the Pet Shop Boys, performing "Always On My Mind", using a SIII on stage (with Emulator II) and the RS page notated in such a way that the SIII display read "PET... SHOP... BOYS..." (3 patterns in loop). You could clearl

Hello Brian, Each K partition is exactly the same size as a floppy disc. The "pback" util is doing a bit per bit exact copy. If there is any error, it's not good... You should try to find out the origin of the problem. Do you have a spare floppy drive you can use to make some tes

Depeche Mode used the Emulator II+ quite heavily but the majority of the lush sounds you are hearing are good old analog synths, many rare modulars that are heavily stacked and multi tracked. No sampler even the Fairlight III or Synclavier II can reproduce synthesizer sounds of t

I had a quick look for the interview it was Music for the Masses that they used a Fairlight (but not a lot) as it shows a picture of PUK Studios Denmark with a Fairlight CMI. I stand corrected. All the other previous listing details were correct. regards Colin

Hi I read with great interest this thread about Depeche Modes use of the Fairlight. I just wonder, Colin, I you sure that DM used the Fairlight on the Black selebration album? DM was in PUK studio, Denmark when recording Music for the masses in 1987 and PUK studio had a Fairlight

I'm thinking it probably was an EII. It's just a guess, though. I have an EII+ (as well as a CMI IIx) and I've always thought that it kicks the crap out of the CMI sample-quality wise. I mean, I love my Fairlight and all but I think the EII is by far the best sounding 8-bit sampl

It would be interesting to know the original owners and the history if there is a list...with the exception of Big Al's III and IIx! It's like seeing pictures of abused pets. Did Depeche Mode use a CMI on "Behind the wheel"? Sounds too posh to be an Emax....and since it's not a d
