I can testify to that. The CA3130 is the only chip I ever killed, just by looking at it... So to speak. Alas, in some cases, the CA3140 does not always work (or work properly) where a CA3130 is asked for. _g --- In cgs_synth@yahoogroups.com , sasami@... wrote: > > CA3130 can only

Well I finally found the problem. The diode that is connected between pin 5 of the TL072 and the 2N3906 was leaking. It was the source of the stray voltage into Pin 5 that was blocking any signal on the "In" jack. I've never had any problems with diodes before, but on this build

Try swapping your chips between the sections and see if the fault stays, or follows the chips. If it follows the chips, you have a failed chip. I had a bad chip in my prototype that stumped me for a while. Apart from that, it worked fine. Ken >Any one built this yet ? i have one

I've built two of these: http://www.oakleysound.com/psu.htm Best bit about it is you use a low voltage mains adaptor to take the voltage down from mains, reducing the risk considerably. Easy build and I've been using mine for months now with no issues.
