I use Ableton Live as my sampler. I also have a boss sp-202 it is o.k. you can use the MP-7 to trigger samplers. I only use it for one hits and phrases.

Midi type 0 is all channels on a single track. Type 1 is 16 channel/multi-track support. So you need to export the MIDI file as type 1 to maintain tracks.
